man you need some rubbing compound and a good wax on that thing. I bet the paint doesnt look too good up real close....

Get 3M medium cut compound, and 3M dark color scratch remover to get out the stuff from the med. cut compound.

Paint would be nice but I see your doing things on a budget.

Well the few exterior and interior mods i did weren't to hard on my wallet. But i am more focused on getting the car to run clean and drive straight. Once i feel that iv'e accomplished that, then i'll worry about paint.

Everything in due time.

x2 It would look like a clone SS with the wrong wing on it. I'd put the right one if you can find it since it is the real deal.

Black seat belts are in! I know thats not a big deal lol, I'm just keeping track of my progress. Every little bit is an improvement. Now all I need is black cloth door panels and sun visors. I picked this clean set up at the junk yard from a 94 Camaro. The front buckels are much smaller, don't flip, turn, and tangle as much as mine did..so Im happy.

Thanks very much guys! Its been a decent year for the car. Once I finish the interior ill start on some mild performance upgrades (opti, headers, heads, intake etc.) and some more suspension upgrades like SFC's and LCA's etc.

As much as I want to do it RIGHT now..lol..paint will most likely come last.

Lol...surprisingly good actually. The kid cut the exhaust off past the cats which was the only "mod" he had done. I started the car and ran it for 20 minutes while i looked it over and checked for RPO Codes and listened for knocks and vacuum leaks etc. The car ran fine, never shut off or overheated.

The transmission had been replaced around 60k, so it had 20k on it by the time I bought it.

I was nervous about buying it, but I only had $3600 to spend, and only had a couple days left on my rental from the insurance company. Since the car was mechanically sound and really only needed exterior and interior tlc I took the risk and bought it.

The normal things are going out from daily driving. I have to replace the fuel pump and opti harness next week, but all in all I'm glad that i "rescued" her. Do you already have a LT1 or do you plan on buying one in the future?

Good deal. Hell if the motor and tranny was good and quarters were straight I would have grabbed it for $3500 also. Interior and bumpers are easy right?

Yes Ive got a 95 Ive been working on for a while now.

First off, great thread, not sure how I missed it but thumbs up for sure! This is the most rewarding stuff to do to a car IMO...it totally transforms it and makes it feel like your own...

^just a couple pointers, I did this last week with a generic walbro 255 kit, and dropping the tank out of the bottom of the car the "old school" way.

Do yourself a HUGE favor when do the fuel pump and do the trap door method (research how to do it correctly, it can be done clean/well), and buy yourself a full racetronix kit-the hotwire kit and the fuel pump from them. It's all plug and play and doing these two things will turn a several hour very frustrating project into a couple hour "wow, that was easy" project.

Replacing the interior was easy, piecing it together was the hardest part..lol..patience paitience and more patience. The bumpers weren't too bad; I do suggest you have a buddy help you when you replace them. Its easier when you have someone helping you line them up etc. I'd like to see your 95, feel free to post a pic or two if you have any.

Thanks man! With some minor frustration aside it has definitely been rewarding. Its to the point now that when I look over this thread I find myself thinking "wow, that use to be my car" lol.

I posted a fuel thread a couple days ago that you responded to. It was called "fuel related advice needed". Anyway, I did purchase a Racetronix Walbro and Hotwire Kit. I I am pretty sure that I will do the trap door mod, but I will do it right and give it a smooth and clean finish when its done.

I am however going to go to my local junk yard and practice the trap door on another car. I'm thinking that it will be smarter to make mistakes on a junker and then be able to do it right on my car..lol.

Haha..yeah I know right?! I found a guy in Orlando who had a full set, new in the box. He purchased them for his 02 SS but never installed them because the car was totaled before he had a chance. I checked them over and there was no sign of use what so ever. So at $250 I couldn't pass them up.

Thats how I have found most of my parts. I check craigslist and our classifieds section on a regular basis. And with patience I have come across some steals!
