man you need some rubbing compound and a good wax on that thing. I bet the paint doesnt look too good up real close....
Get 3M medium cut compound, and 3M dark color scratch remover to get out the stuff from the med. cut compound.
Paint would be nice but I see your doing things on a budget.

I know there are a couple of other guys not to far from me that are here on ls1tech as well so we shall see if we can get everyone together. For now I just ordered the cable so I can have mine retuned and hopfully we can get it right this time. I am stright out 54 at US 19 to your west.
I registered for the Gainesville road course day for Feb. 5h, and I'm contemplating Bradenton this Sunday, Runday Sunday!

Black seat belts are in! I know thats not a big deal lol, I'm just keeping track of my progress. Every little bit is an improvement. Now all I need is black cloth door panels and sun visors. I picked this clean set up at the junk yard from a 94 Camaro. The front buckels are much smaller, don't flip, turn, and tangle as much as mine did..so Im happy.

The transmission had been replaced around 60k, so it had 20k on it by the time I bought it.
I was nervous about buying it, but I only had $3600 to spend, and only had a couple days left on my rental from the insurance company. Since the car was mechanically sound and really only needed exterior and interior tlc I took the risk and bought it.
The normal things are going out from daily driving. I have to replace the fuel pump and opti harness next week, but all in all I'm glad that i "rescued" her. Do you already have a LT1 or do you plan on buying one in the future?

First off, great thread, not sure how I missed it but thumbs up for sure! This is the most rewarding stuff to do to a car IMO...it totally transforms it and makes it feel like your own...
^just a couple pointers, I did this last week with a generic walbro 255 kit, and dropping the tank out of the bottom of the car the "old school" way.
Do yourself a HUGE favor when do the fuel pump and do the trap door method (research how to do it correctly, it can be done clean/well), and buy yourself a full racetronix kit-the hotwire kit and the fuel pump from them. It's all plug and play and doing these two things will turn a several hour very frustrating project into a couple hour "wow, that was easy" project.

I posted a fuel thread a couple days ago that you responded to. It was called "fuel related advice needed". Anyway, I did purchase a Racetronix Walbro and Hotwire Kit. I I am pretty sure that I will do the trap door mod, but I will do it right and give it a smooth and clean finish when its done.
I am however going to go to my local junk yard and practice the trap door on another car. I'm thinking that it will be smarter to make mistakes on a junker and then be able to do it right on my car..lol.
Hmm...lets see, Ill list evrything as close as I can:
Car: $3450 with 83K miles.
Bumpers+Fender: $100
Headliner: $50
F+R Seats: $40
Interior plastics+carpet: $150
Spoiler: $100
Tail Lights: $80 shipped
NT 555 Tires (NEW): $600
Bilstein Shocks (NEW): $250
Springs (NEW): $200
TSP Exhaust: $125
K&N CAI: $100
Seat belts: $35
Fog Lights: $15
Dash Top: $75
Trans Cooler + Trans Temp Gauge: $50
Total for parts: $1970
Total for car + parts: $5420
So yeah, thats ball park. May seem a bit high for some people, but its been well worth it for me.

Haha..yeah I know right?! I found a guy in Orlando who had a full set, new in the box. He purchased them for his 02 SS but never installed them because the car was totaled before he had a chance. I checked them over and there was no sign of use what so ever. So at $250 I couldn't pass them up.
Thats how I have found most of my parts. I check craigslist and our classifieds section on a regular basis. And with patience I have come across some steals!
