if your mechanic can see cylinder misfires watch them while driving at high throttle condition and see if he sees cylinder misfires that will rule out the spark plugs and wires if none seen although extreme lean conditions can cause misfires too but you would probably have a p0300 misfire code if so still think prob lies with unmetered air entering engine or MAF problem

That is either fuel or ignition. I bet if you were to start your car in a dark place, open the hood and rev a few times you'd see a lovely light show from wires shorting out on the primaries. Get a fuel pressure gauge and check pressure as well.

if its in the morning or after a long period of not turning it on like half the day or something it wont be hard to start, but it will just take like a second or two more to crank over. if i drive it to the store or something then turn it back on it starts up on first crank.

wouldnt there be a code for a bad opti? and more than just 3 cylinders misfiring? and u can still kinda feel the hesitation under normal driving.

nope, and its most likely trash on the pickup or when it was replaced the wheel has trash on it.. have you ever taken apart an opti? Im pretty positive.. i went through EVERYTHING before i finally broke down and replaced it.. car ran like a bat out of hell afterward... think about it.. that many misfires.. something is off... not several things... wires may be shitty but ive seen them run with barely a thread holding on.. sparkplugs can run down to the nub.. when you change anything with air or the maf the car may act differently but its actually relearning for a short period of time then back to the same old **** within a few miles.. bite the bullet, replace the opti...

One thing I did get to do over the weekend is resit the fuel trims by desconnecting the battery for an hour or two. My ses light is off now and hasn't come back on. But I can still feel the hesitation when driving. Witch can be due to the burned wires. I havnt got on the car ill see how it runs after wire change.

ill tell you what happened to me..

car would have to crank for 5 seconds to start it..
ac clutch wouldnt engage ???
ses light
severe stutter under load...

i drove it like this for about a week until one day it wouldnt start at all... i did the fuel pump, regulator, plugs and wires, ignition module, and coil... in the end it was the opti..

ive had the opti cause several crazy *** problems but that one was the wierdest..

the ses light may come back on after so many cycles of bad code.. it doesnt necessarily come on instantly..

Mine for sure dosnt take 5 seconds, and I have put almost 300 miles on it since I replaced head gaskets. Car at the most on a cold start takes 1-2 seconds rather then when I have been driving it and it turns on on the first crank. I'm hoping its not the opti. My ac works fine and so does everything else. Before when I had a bad opti in a trans am I has it would act up way more, and in sort of a different way that's hard to explain.

tryin to help.. the opti, or ignition system in general, was the main reason I went to an LS1.. well, that and a crazy high end power band..

yea i really miss my ls1 aswell. lost it about 3 years ago when i lost my job. so im bairly climbing back in the game. i know these lt1s are headaches but i like this one and it has low miles. im gunna stay loyal to her, build her up and fix this issue. plus lt1s sound bad *** with h/c, long tubes and open cutout.

back to problem. SES came back on, and i noticed today when i put gas the car had a ruff idle and was missing alot more at lower rpms. kinda went away, drove for abit with with same symptoms i have been having. drove to were i was going about 20 min away. parked it for about 10 min then turned it back on. had the same ruff idle and and SES light started flashing witch is missfire. it stopped after awhile i let it sit and work itself out. than car started running like it has been again. "hesistation, but not as bad untill 2800+rpms." car still dosnt take longer than normal to fire up either.

im thinking maybe its a fuel system problem? maybe the NOS inline fuel pump is clogged or not functioning? also its bolted horzontal not vertical... make a difference? i dont know why i just dont beleive its the opti...

ok so i disconnected the msd 6al box, seems to be alittle bit more responsive with abit less hesitation but still bogs really bad at about 3k rpms or WOT. im waiting for some wires and a untouched MAF to arrive in the mail thanks to a great member on here. once they arrive i will change them and see what happens. since i noticed abit better acceleration without the msd box im going to leave the batter disconnected overnight to reset fuel trims and see if it helps any. probably wont but worth a try. also i notice when i put gas the car has abit of a ruff idle on initial start up. not sure if thats a sign of anything? on this full tank i added a bottle of that redline SI fuel system cleaner. thought it wouldnt hurt. ill keep posted. any new insight is still greatly appreciated.

stick with the update... youre a t56 by whats in your sig.. now anyone will tell you that you can play with the maf and it wont effect anything as long as your manual... an auto uses the maf readings to determine line pressure and can cause tranny issues/failure.. unless the maf itself is faulty then porting will cause you no issues... it wont help you near as much as people like to think... stock mafs support 500hp easy... good luck man... i hope its the maf...
