Would it be okay to tow with LT1's?

I'm looking to get a tow hitch for my car, it's an M6, would it be bad to tow a 320lb 650sx stand up jet ski? would this cause any significant damage to the drivetrain/powertrain? i know some of you are going to say just get a truck but I can't lol i wish i had the money to but i gotta work with what i got.

there is a guy that go's around from body shop to bodyshop working/pinstripping cars out of a 00' T/A firehawk! in this town with a tow hitch set up installed and tows a small trailer...and some times his bass boat ...makes me fuking sick:barf::mullet::doublepuk
To answer yes you can tow a small trailer, ski,or bike with it easily
i would hope your not backing it into any salt water ....I'll trade you a truck capable of towing for it.

LOL, I cannot believe all the negative attitudes.

Follow the info in the owner's manual about towing and you should be fine.

wow...flamed! lol I would've thought that it'd be okay cause i figured that i'd be hauling a total of less than 400 lbs, which is about the same amount as having about 3 passengers...and i wouldn't be loading/unloading on a high grade dock, it'd be parked and the trailer is a beach dolley/trailer so i'd just roll it to the lake. But like the OP says, would this cause any significant damage to the drivetrain? the only difference (that i can think of) of the weight, is that the weight is solely on the rear end of the car where as if i had 3 passengers (equalling out to about 400 lbs) the weight would be equally distributed throughout the car. please enlighten me, don't just comment with0 opinions and remarks without giving reasons.

dude youll be fine.

http://www.cars.com/chevrolet/camaro/1995/specs/

Cars.com says its rated for a 1,000lb trailer. Check on the weight of the trailer and jetski combined, some trailers are heavier than you'd think.

You mean like this? I towed both of these things 500 miles from Connecticut to West Virginia, and both times the car was completely loaded down with food/clothes for the semester. Towed fine, but you definitley felt it. I still have the hitch, and am looking to sell it. With a standup jetski in a not loaded down car, you will be fine.

slomarao Jan 18, 2011 08:29 PM

please buy a shitbox for towing. your car is capable of it but please spare it.

Gojira94 Jan 18, 2011 08:37 PM

A Class I hitch (smallest you can get) is rated for 200lb tongue weight, towing 800 lbs. You wouldn't be anywhere close to either.
