What's next?

I've been wanting to post this for awhile but I don't really have the money to continue my build right away. Anyhow, I was wondering what sine of u gooroos would suggest doing next.

I've got a 94 z with a mildly built 4l60e. The engine is a forged 383 with AI TFS heads and their small cam, the 228.

What I'm looking for, is suggestions on what to do next. In the never ending quest for power, I never quit changing and upgrading.

What do u guys think?

bigger cam, th350/400, 4000+ converter, nitrous!

Good idea on the trans. I never drive this car. So drive-ability doesn't mean much to me.

Stole the words right out of my mouth! Agreed^^^^^

To the guys that have done the swap, how much of a performance gain was it? And how bad is it to drive?

96capricemgr Jan 31, 2011 10:50 AM

A TH350/400 has less of an rpm drop from first to second but has a worse first gear. If you have a good 4L60E I would not jump on that bandwagon just yet.

Could consider a solid roller but that will likely mean sending the heads back to set them up.

What is the rest of the car setup?

jayz28 Jan 31, 2011 11:01 AM

Subframes, LCAs, Torque Arm, STOCK 10 Bolt. Long tubes with true dual setup. Has pretty much all boltons. I recently purchased a few things for later on, a kmember/manual rack and converted SP/Accel TB.

I've done some weight reduction too. Car ran consistent 11.50s.

96capricemgr Jan 31, 2011 11:58 AM

I would probably do the axle next unless you plan on something that launches soft like a turbo.

qc97z Jan 31, 2011 01:43 PM

STOCK 10 bolt? It's time for a 12 bolt or a 9", along with a bigger cam and higher stall.
Probably adjustable LCA's and Torque Arm (unless yours are already adjustable), more drag suspension!

jayz28 Jan 31, 2011 02:16 PM

I know it. They're just too dam expensive. I forgot to mention I have an edge converter

RamAir95TA Jan 31, 2011 03:34 PM

You already have a good motor, so I would concentrate more on suspension and the rear axle (assuming you're building this motor for the strip - you don't really indicate what you're looking for).

jayz28 Jan 31, 2011 03:42 PM

Oh yea its 90% strip car. Gets drove maybe a thousand miles a summer.

jayz28 Jan 31, 2011 03:43 PM

I may be greedy but 10s on motor is what I want.

RamAir95TA Jan 31, 2011 03:43 PM

Then do a 12-bolt/9"/S60 now.

Nothing else whatsoever.

I was running 11.1s @ 122mph with mid-high 1.5x 60's, then added a boat-ton of suspension pieces and a tire change, which instantly vaulted me into the 10.80s with 60's in the low-mid 1.4s.

Suspension, suspension, suspension.

jayz28 Jan 31, 2011 04:00 PM

Wow, very impressive. I guess I'm giving up to easy on my setup. Was kinda leaning towards more weight reduction and a cam.

I can't do a reared right now though. Just too much for me. What else would u suggest? Perhaps some QA1s?

RamAir95TA Jan 31, 2011 04:22 PM

If I were you, I'd seriously consider putting whatever money you have intended on spending now into a "rear end fund jar." Don't spend a thing!

jayz28 Jan 31, 2011 04:26 PM

LOL, k I notch

jayz28 Jan 31, 2011 04:26 PM

Gotcha*

l 95 Trans Am l Jan 31, 2011 05:17 PM

BOOOOOOOST lol, I'd say a stronger rear before you snap the 10 bolt:chug:
