Default Set up question:transmission

Alright im getting another stock tranny off a caddy only has 30k miles for 300bucks... and 3200 stall from some one here,a shift kit, and a cooler will the stall eat up the stock clutches even with the cooler? im wondering that way i dont end up in the same hole. right now i have a 2800 stall with no cooler and shift kit and it gave out on 3,4 so i want to know if doing the set up im going to do is a bad idea...

its a hit or miss, i mean there is no gurantee ur used transmission wont fail with a used converter, but if you get a good cooler, and the tranny and converter are good then the chances are it should last awhile, but you got to remember your dealing with used parts so hope for the best.

In my experience if you buy a good stall you don't have much in the way of heat issues. I also would not go blaming the stall for 3-4 clutch issues.

THE shift kit to look at is Transgo.

That will not hurt the tranny one bit.
A higher stall converter is actually easier on the clutches and hard parts during shifts because it soaks up some of the shock.

A Yank is definitely a good converter. If you have datalogging software you can see tranny temp and with the Yank I would expect it to be just fine.
