Prettiest $300 I've spent in a while

brand spanking new in the box

( Yes I know I have it laid out wrong, but I had to be able to fit it in the pic)

Lpps?

Those look really nice. I'm looking to get a set for myself soon. I've been wanting to see how well the inside of the y-pipe merge looks. Could you shine a flash light up the y-pipe and get a pic of how the two tubes come together? I'm mostly curious on how cleanly and well matched the hole in the one pipe is that the other merges into.

Looks good! are those eBay headers? Look exactly like my eBay headers. Biggest pita is clearancing em for the steering shaft.

Yeah I'll do that tonight

Nah I forgot what brand they are, they are from DNAmotoring or something. no idea

Could you please measure the diameter of the tubing. Both the smaller and the stepped portion?

I measured everything on mine (same headers) before I threw them on. https://ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt4-m...xperience.html

These headers are FTW, even if you do decide to bash the #1 primary in for fitment (there are other ways to make them fit). Can't go wrong for $300!!

for a minute there i thought that you were the asshole that outbid me on a set of dynatechs on ebay the other week.

My 2 minute left dick-bid didnt work lol.

Nice anyways, were those on ebay or did you get them off another person? or did you use DNAmotoring's store on ebay?

For what it's worth, I measured a set of "OBX" LT1 headers and tubes off of the flange are 1.7" and the "stepped" tubes are 1.8". Measured with a digital vernier caliper.

If they are the headers I am thinking about, they require A LOT of modification to clear everything. They especially hit the steering knuckle and k-member. I had to dent the #1 primary and I had to clearance the k-member to get them to fit. Hopefully you don't have as many issues as I did. Btw, get some poly motor mounts before you install the headers, they are a must!

I got em from a guy in my city

nascarnate326 Mar 4, 2011 05:43 PM

I have the same set and love them.

Ding the #1 and grind some steering shaft off and you will be set.

My install was pretty damn smooth.

My Y pipe fits poorly but for 300 bucks, you cant beat it.

Every LT1 should have long tubes now.

SmartOJ Mar 4, 2011 06:25 PM

dude for 300 bucks beat what you have to beat....road conditions will do its number on them sooner or later anyway.mine sound like sex even with the knockoff flowmaster muffler.my ypipe fit kind of funky also but some band clamps and high temp silicone took care of that for me

My experience with these headers.
Heated the first primary to cherry red and beet it in about 3/8 of an inch. By using heat it was easy to dent and formed nicely. Just a daily driver so it didnt matter to me. honestly dont think it retricts much anyways. clears the steering knuckle probly 1/4 inch with no grinding on the knuckle. they also rub the body on the lower passenger side but no modification was needed to get that side to fit in. no problems or noise has resulted yet. i have a tubuler k member so clearence for that was not an issue. hope this helps. Overall i'm very happy and would do it again. For being as cheap as they are I actually thought the quality was great. Flanges were completly straight on mine.

Im running those headers aswell. I have a post about them. I quite like them. They did require abit of massaging (by that i mean beating with a hammer) to fit 100%. but that was all worth it. I also scrappy the Y-pipe that came with it in favor of one that i fabricated (i also have a post on that) GL

The ones you installed do not look like KOOK copies. They look indentical to LPP's.

The KOOKs copies are the "OBX" and "SPEEDDADDY" headers.

Regadless though its good information. I just wanted to verify that these actually measure out to a full 1 7/8 step and it appears they do.

A guy got the "eworldsales" Pacesetter non stepped style which were advertised as 1 3/4 and they ended up being 1 5/8, which would thoroughly piss me off.

1.7 and 1.8 exactly?

Yeah, I found it really odd. It might have been like 1.701 and 1.81 for argument's sake, but they were pretty much round numbers.

I will measure again next time I am at my friend's shop.

I forgot the exact specs on the OD of mine (i got them from ap1ap2) but they were just atad bigger then what they said they were. 1-3/4" - 1-7/8".

I need to get a hammer it seems like lol
