Default tuning lt1 with lt4 hot cam..with C.A.T.S

have a lt1 firebird with a lt4 hot cam, exhaust, intake, electric water pump. have the cats software and was wondering what i should adjust to make the car run/perform better. new at this so help is appreciated.. thanks, chuck

If you have the hot cam only(no LT4 heads) you can drive the car like that but it will be sluggish. Mine was. You will want to get a tune and think about headers if you don't already have them. More air in means you need more air out.

thanks, yeah stock heads still, no headers yet its not my car so it not my call ill tell him he should get some tho. what should i adjust as far as the tables

You really don't want to go changing things by people's say-so. If self-tuning is the goal, hours of research and understanding of how things operate is necessary to be proficient in making safe and worthwhile changes. Starting with a good mail order tune and then dissecting it with Tunercat may help in understanding.

alright thanks, its not running real bad just a little rich, its also not heating up past 160. could that be the cause of it running rich?

About half way down theirs a. Tune for the hotcam with stock heads, should get you pointed in the right direction.

Try using the file from that site if you doesnt work good for yeh and want to try another one i have a 355 stock headed lt1 with a hotcam tune.

Like I said in the other forum, throw some money on the table and get a good tuner to tune the car for you. Moe Bailey, Ed Wright, PCM Performance and Solomon all do good work and do it via mail order. Also, download eehack

i know this thread is old but I have a hotcam only in my lt1 and was trying to tune for spark and fuel do you still have the tune that you can share?

Do neither you (Horace) nor the OP have widebands? You don't just plop someone else's tune in there all ***** nilly if your car drives, go and give it what it wants and let the data tell you that.

I'm really interested in hot cam tune with stock heads to get me going. Let me know if its still available
