Scorpion vs Proform 1.6rr SA

Before you guys bash me on "you get what you pay for" or "they are both garbage", I just want to hear honest opinions and experiences with either of these products. I have had my eyes on pro mags for awhile but it seems like they are only producing ultra pro mags now and Damn those suckers are expensive.. So as for now these are the main options.. for me money is tight. I am on a college budget and the bulk of the bank has been spent on the heads cam and the rebuild.

I have a set of 1.7 scorpions for sale. Ran about 15 minutes

I have the proforms, they are loud as hell. thought I had lifter taps all over the place. Not to mention that they are trying to fail on me as they actually bind on the Polly locks. Yes that’s right they are machined so poorly they bind on the Polly locks that came with them. Just spend the money the cheaper shit will fuck up more cost wise then it saves period. Think of it this way, Cheap parts like these are the parts that are trying to fuck up your engine and make you go LSx lol

fuuuuudge.. well. What are my choices for SA roller rockers? ultra pro mags and what else? How about scorpions, i've read good things about them and then read about people "hearing" horror stories but have only been able to find a couple of these stories and one was on an LS1, not an LT1.
BTW I was reccomened by the heads and cam guy to run SA roller rockers because I wouldn't be revving up past 6300rpm

What part# and where did you order from?

I've got a set of 1.6 7/16 proforms that were never installed for sale. I'll have to double check to see if they're SA or NSA. pm me if you're interested. I'll let em go cheap.

All I know about Scorpion so far is they have excellent customer service. I did have an issue with two rockers, but the cause honestly is unknown as why as they came with a used motor. Scorpion had me send all the rockers in and they sent me a new set.

So I will be running Scorpions on my new build, not sweating it one bit.

I've had a set of the GMPP aluminum SAs on my car for about 7 years, 12,000 miles. So far, so good.....

IronOutlaw 06-04-2011 06:38 AM

I hate playing the "I heard" game but I read somewhere that tge summit brand rockers are just rebranded scorpions. You could look into them to save some $$$

96TransAmboosted 06-04-2011 09:49 AM

I run proforms on this engine. No issues at all. Last motor I ran scorpions no issues at all ever. Install them properly and you should be fine.

Where did you get those from? and if you don't mind posting up the part# that would be nice.

After thinking and reading I have decided to just go with the ultra pro magnums from CC. They are more expensive than I can afford, but I'd rather break the budget and be safer than sorry. I know I would probably be fine with the scorpions or even the proforms, but I would seriously kill myself if they failed and caused a dropped valve or some other catastrophic problem.. plus I just don't think there is a comparison in strength and durability between aluminum and chromemoly steel.

Anyways are these the right ones for my application?

With all this talk about the ultra pro rockers made me change my order and get them. Dam you! :judge:
No they are NSA
