Default 95 LT1 no power to starter

recently installed a new clutch kit in my 95 trans am. initially i forgot to disconnect the battery. it wasnt until i accidentally jumped the posts on the solenoid with the control arm that i realized i hadn't. clutch install went fine but now i am not getting any power to the starter. the ignition switch should be fine as my dash and all my display lights come on and work as they should. i pulled out my theft deterrent relay and can hear it clicking when the key is turned to start. if i jump the posts on the solenoid the starter does turn over so neither the solenoid or the starter are bad. i am lost as far as what it could possibly be. i didnt think there was anything from the TDR to the solenoid that could go bad, besides a power wire grounding on something but I would think i would get some smoke if that were the case... has anybody had a similar issue or just know what my problem could be that can help??? thanks
