no one? hmm I have a friend who says he has a 95 with a carbbed motor his girlfriend bought that way. I thought it was next to impossible to get a rear dist to clear in the back. I realize the efi is pretty hard to beat on these motors but a carb motor can run alot more choices of cams without tunning.

Pick your poison. I stuck with the EFI over going carb'd and I'll never find the limits of the engine management. A good carb that will come close to EFI in the driveability department and also make big power... you're looking at at least 900 bucks. You can run a huge camshaft on the stock pcm, I've done it and tuned it myself and it wasn't anywhere near impossible. More time consuming than tuning a carb? Hell no.

A real Pontiac motor has the distributor in the back. Buicks had them up front.

I tune my car with tunerpro, so yes its easy, however I was unaware that the pcm would support a crazy lope cam. I'm more curious than I am inclined to do a carb swap. I need to go look at my friends car because I hear its about impossible to get a dist to clear and you would have to drop the motor to install one.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is sexy as hell!!!! wow!!!!! I just had to go to the bathroom, lol.
So did you trim the part where the wires are? I cant remember what a normal car looks like. Are you running on stock internals( doubt it) at stock compression?thanks for the post, simply inspiring!!!

He completely cut out the cowl and wiper arm mounts. Depending on the intake and carb setup you use you can get away with just clearancing it and keep the wipers.

With the size of that turbo he obviously isn't running stock internals. Would be a bit overkill of a setup for 6-8psi, don't you think???

correct on most accounts.

i did in fact cut out the entire wiper cowl, and wiper mounts.

one could run a different style distributor cap and clear everything just fine with minimal clearancing. i used to have mine this way, BUT, I cut mine out so i could run a standard cap, and be able to put it in, with the motor fully installed.....

its currently a 383 CI shortblock, 11.3:1 compression, E-85, on rougly 9-10 lbs of boost. Once i drop the compression, i will really turn up the boost.

Must be fun trying to hook a 383 on 10psi ...can't wait to see it low compression w/ more boost.
