Default WOAH! $550 for an LT1 WS6 airbox? (selling price, not asking price)

I was just looking through an old thread where someone posted an ebay ad for the LT1 WS6 airbox. I happened to click on it and it showed the winning bid

$550

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Trans...d=248824153973

I paid less than that for my OEM airbox AND OEM hood

I knew they pulled big money, but not THAT much. the last one i saw pull anything near that was one with a K&N filter and a MAF and it sold for $382.

someone should take one and find a way to make copies of it.

So someone that paid $3500 for a stock transmission rebuild is calling out someone who paid $550 for an airbox?

OP,

Is it really true you tipped like 30 cents to your wait staff after gorging on bread sticks?

I think you guys should sale those airboxes on ebay and buy some LS1 lids. Put some extra change on your pockets.

FWIW the bill on the trans rebuild was $3100 and it included the u joints, rear main seal, rear pinion seal, oil sender unit, oil level sensor, plus some stuff i'm probably forgetting. the trans got all new parts $1500 in total and a 3 year 50k mi warrenty.

you still got raped haha. theres a guy here locally who does stock rebuilds for a grand installed. u joints would cost u 15 apiece for the best ones and you can do yourself. rear seal another 20 bucks or so, etc etc. it all adds up but not another 2 grand

well i took it to a trans rebuild place. originally the rebuild was supposed to be $1800-$2200. the $2900 charge was after they had it out of the car and apart but couldn't give me a reason for why it cost that much more (maybe they forgot a new TC in that price or something, i don't know). i couldn't exactly tell them to stop working on it and i'd drive it somewhere else at that point.

hell no! everyone knows the LT1 WS6 airbox is the best setup for an LT1. it seals to the hood and takes air in directly. even the WS6 LS1 lid still pulls it in from in down in front of the radiator. And it's a simple bolt on. no cutting of the core support required.

"I paid $115.xx shipped for my airbox etc. and had to drive 3 hours to pick up my oem hood that I got for $337.xx"

I think I got that right, since I've read it so many times, everytime a LT1 oem airbox and hood thread comes up you brag about your savings, good for you but......

i didn't say it in the thread and i wasn't trying to imply anything other than how much those things have gone up. if you don't like it, here's a hint, DON'T REPLY!

So happy I bought mine for $100 last year with the K&N filter in it. Cracked but with some quick work with a plastic welder you can't tell.

ok so i put that in there, but i didn't specifically say how much i paid for the airbox. does it really ******* matter? i made the post to show how much those things are going for now, not to brag about what i paid back in the day. i was merely using what i paid as a reference to show how much more the stuff costs now

I bet you're just butthurt because you either 1. can't find one or 2. paid way to much for one.

Not True I have a ls1 box on my lt1 and the superhawk 98-02 hood the air goes directly into the air box , and it doesnt touch and pull the hot hood air in . I didnt cut a thing off the core support or anything .

So this conversation never took place with alleged witnesses?
First time you hung out with all of us and got wings at tower shops. You tipped the lady 30 cents. So it stuck.

.....................
Wrong! It was ice cream at Original Steak House in Coral Springs.
Oh yeah. He wanted to write me a check for paying for him at Lefty's. lol good times good times.

..........................
I think it was $.20 actually. Nothing like eating three whole baskets of free bread sticks and an ice cream and leaving pennies for a tip. Stay classy.
