Default need a fuel pump

Well changing the alternator on my car solved my high rpm misfire. However I still have a hesitation and loss of power. I'm certain its the fuel pump, I am going to get a fuel pressure gauge to check it first. I don't have a ton of money to spend on a pump, but all the ones i"m finding are almost 200 dollars. Does anyone know of where I can get one for less, or does anyone have one lying around that they are willing to sell?
Thanks for the help everyone

If you can swing it, do the Racetronix pump/harness kit. One of the best fuel system modifications you can do!

I found them on thunder racing, and I like the price, but I don't see any for F-bodys, just for the C4 vette. Will those work with the lt1 f-body?

Nevermind, I was looking at something else. Thats alot of money for me right now, mainly because my alternator died randomly so I had to get that replaced.

I can get a walbro 255 pump from a sponsor on here for the price I want...I wish the wiring harness wasn't so expensive. I could probably change out the pump now and do the wiring harness when I get my next pay check. I still need to order brakes as well...

I don't really like the trap door method...but I guess i have to do it that way, my exhaust is welded together from the previous owner, so I'm guessing there is no way to get the tank out that way...

Also if I get the walbro 255 is it an absolute requirement to upgrade the wiring harness or can I scoot by until I have a bit more money? Will I be shortening the life of the pump?

It would be wise to do both at the same time. It will save you labor and potential problems if you factory electrical system is suffering from old age. It will also guarantee maximum pump performance.

That makes sense...
What about dropping the fuel tank, will the exhaust be in my way? Or do I just need to drop the rear end?

That depends on the exhaust configuration.
It would be best to call a Racetronix dealer who can provide support based on in-shop experience.

If you don't clean out your tank you are gambling with the life of your pump.

There are several guides that show you exactly what to do. It is not overly difficult as long as you take your time. Compared to dropping the entire rear suspension and exhaust it is a CAKEWALK.

I drilled a hole in the middle of the cutout and at each corner with a 1/2in drill bit. Then used tin snips to cut the sqaure out. if you scroll down to my thread about fuel pump dimensions theres all the writeups and pictures to guide you. Its easy to replace.

Like Badazz said the tin snips are the easiest for peace of mind, if your handy with a cut-off wheel then go at it, the tank is about 1/4" from the metal your cutting. People say they don't want to blow up, but unless you have a gas leak, it is a completely sealed system. I had sparks all over.. But I already had a wheel and compressor that's why I went that route, if not I would have bought tin snips. Took 15 minutes to measure and cut the hole.
