Prolly about 6000 in this one including the price of the car. I had about 15000 in my formula. But the first number will continue to go up....

All I had on my old one was nitrous, full exhaust, ewp, built trans, gears, 3600 stall, and I sold it due to lack of time.

Glad I didn't go all out on it, because truth is, I didn't love the car enough too. On a side note, I definitely miss it though

this thread makes me feel better to read that there are other people out there that enjoy the platform and are in tens of thousands of dollars trying to make it the best it can be. i got a 96 z28 conv. with 50k original miles (just passed 50k mark a couple months ago, only drive the damn thing like 1k miles a year or less, mostly cause it's down for modding). i'm atleast in over 40k, if not over 50k then i'm damn close. i haven't added it up yet, probably cause i'm scared to know that the real number is currently somewhere into the 50s.

i have a ridiculous amount in just paint and a full body clear bra. i really wanted to exceed the factory finish by a lot. plus full custom interior, full suspension, procharged with all the necessary supporting engine mods, carbon fiber driveshaft and beefed up drivetrain (which i'm gonna switch out now, haha), and every exterior mod that i felt was the best choice for the look.

i still have over 10k left in swapping out for a bulletproof trans and rear end (i beefed up the stock stuff, but at this point, it's not good enough anymore), gonna need a different length carbon fiber driveshaft, plus some suspension changes and bls quad hid projectors when they are released.

i've done over 90% of the install work myself, so there's a lot of $$ i saved with my free man hours. the thing that pisses me off the most is when stock stuff breaks (like a/c leak i just fixed by overhauling the entire system) or having things get messed up that i already finished.

yesterday i had some chemical get thrown from out of somewhere i don't even know and land on the front bumper; it etched every place it touched. i was like fff#####cccckkk i gotta be the only person in the world going in circles like this with this car and dropping ridiculous money every time i make a revolution!!! good to know there's some people out there that know my pain through 1st hand experience. the end. sorry for the essay, pent-up frustration knowing i still got like a year left before i'm done.

This makes me not want to put more money into my car. I just want it looking pretty, and keep maintaining it.

50k into a car? Damn.

But at the same time, I love it.

Im pretty sure most of is are married. My wife understands that its just like what Fred Durst from limp bizkit said " Its my way or the high way" like it love it or get out. Im always going to cheat on her with my cars so join into the fun pr miss out. Now she does and never argues when I say I need this or that for a project. We just make it work. But mind you she is into horses and we have 2 and they are not cheap.

DVS LT1, you also live in Ontario, Canada correct?

If so, then yeah, the insurance requirements and everything else about the economy up there is why a few I know that live up there insure to appraised value.

Here, I have an "agreed value" policy for the T/A. Not quite what I have into the car, but also better than paying hefty premiums on an appraised value. The 'vert has just full coverage until I get it painted and that one will get either an appraised value or "agreed value" policy as well...

I'd say close to if not more for me. Then I parted it out and got less than $20k.

What kind of fuel do you run?

I was starting to get lot piled up into my 97 WS6, got it to the point where it was running in the tens and that still didn't feel fast. I parted it out and got a real race car. I would of had the same money tied up in a nine second street car, and now I got a 6 second car that is fast. I wanted to race though, so it was the right thing for me. I was always at the track every chance I could get with my street car. It was a lot of fun, but the race car is a lot more fun.
