Won't start, no spark. I drove my car for the first time in a couple of weeks, I parked it and around an hour later it wouldn't start. I cranks over and it sounded like it fired a couple of times, but it wouldn't run. I though it might be my Dig 6 box so I bypassed it and still nothing. I know I'm getting fuel to the rails since the gauge is showing the correct pressure. I pulled off the coil plug and it wasn't firing. It has a new model MSD coil and a new non delco ICM. I'm leaning towards the ICM being the problem. Can anyone else think of anything that might be the issue? |
It could also be the coil, opti or wiring for the coil, opti and icm. I am having the same problem right now my car won't start and I have no spark from the coil. So far everything I've tested leads me to believe that my opti went bad even though it is about a year old Delco unit. I'm not sure though and I really don't want to spend another $400. http://www.mainstreamtopics.com/foru...rt-diagnostic/ This article is helpful in diagnosing no start for LT1s. I've used it 3 or 4 times; I know a few friends with LT1s. |
I have a spare coil and an Icm, I guess I'll try that. The extra Icm will start the car but throws the check engine light, it did this right out of the box. That's what I get for buying a non delco part. |
Just do the basic troubleshooting and fix it. Don't throw parts at it. shbox.com has everything you need to find the problem. Al 95 Z28 |
No codes thrown. ICM was bad, still not starting. Not getting any rpm readings when cranking. Is that normal? |
Turns out my brand new MSD coil was shot. I hooked up a spare opti to the motor harness and spun it and no spark from the new coil, put one of my old ones on and it fired right up. The windings ohmed out good so I don't know what the deal is with it. |
