Default Ford 9 inch ...do they have an ABS kit avail? or work around to keep ABS.

Was looking into a 9 inch and was wondering what all is needed to retain ABS operability as well as any info on how to determine if one has a 3 chanel or 4 channel and what are the differences?

Work arounds are also welcomed....so long as they "work".

Easiest way is to look at the back side of the rear brakes to see if there are reluctors and sensors out at both rear wheels. If not the 3ch systems uses a reluctor and sensor inside the rear. Most companies make provisions for using either system on a 9inch. Most times you just reuse the reluctors and sensors you currently have or you can order them with the rear.

So I could retro it into any 9 inch? becuz i was going to have an older unit converted over for me....i wont be buying one aftermarket.

If there is a 3ch reluctor ring inside of mine how does the solution for that in a 9 inch work if the 9 would likely not have a reluctor ring.

Im wanting to do a fays2watts and a 9inch at the same time. So rounding up the info beforehand...

I had 3 channel ABS integrated into my Midwest fab 9" rearend. Works great. Retrofiting it into an existing 9" rear can be done but it would likely be a lot of work.

I know there are a few threads on here where people put a relucter gear on their pinion yoke (and another where they put it on the trans yoke) to keep 3 channel. The gear will usually end up being about 27 or 28 teeth, 1/4" pitch.

any chance you could find those threads. I'm doing a 9" now and would love to keep my ABS.

I have dug through looking for info, but can't track down anything super useful.
