security light HELP!!!!!
car - 96 camaro ss
ok so i had a qtp cutout installed on my car up until last week (removed for ground clearance)
i got power for the switch from the rap under the console, after i unhooked it i forgot to seal the wires and today the positive touched the shifter and blew the guages fuse, after installing a new fuse the security light is staying on constant the car still starts/drives, i have tried leaving the key on for 15 mins, unhooking battery for 15 mins. has anyone had this happen before and could you fix it, i really don't feel like a $100 dollar trip to the dealer just for a diagnostic scan.

I don't think a 100 buck dealer scan is going to tell you **** other then there is a problem with that modual lol. You can either take the BCM out and test the internals and find out what blew up, replace it and have it programmed by the dealer for an additional fee, pull the light bulb and hope it never acts up or tune or wire it out.
Should have just been wired with a relay using the RAP as a trigger with a fuse directly after the tap into the RAP with another fuse on the main power bus going to the cut out. I wouldn't pull load off that circuit since the board seems to have solder problems as is.

i don't think the bcm is fcked or atleast not completely because the remote entry still works and so does the theft alarm. maybe someone like shbox could chime in.
