Camaro won't start 96 z28 Camaro won't start I have a 96 Camaro z28. I drove it yesterday and it ran fine well I got in it today and it won't start. The plugs r not gettin fire and the fuel pump isn't priming does anyone know what could b wrong? |
Dead battery maybe. |
vats issue possibly? |
It cranks over but just won't start. How would I fix the vats? |
I have a 2002 which may be wired differently but I had a similar problem once. It always would crank fine however sometimes it would start right up and sometimes it would just crank and crank with no fire. Intermittently went on for months. Ended up being the "Ignition Relay" which is the same as the fan relay in the fuse box. If you check and it is the same relay in yours just swap it with the fan relay to test it. If it works then you know, just dont forget to get a new one for your fan relay. Good luck! |
When urs did that did the fuel pump not kick on when u turned the key on? |
No the fuel pump was never an issue. |
Ok. Mine dont have that relay anyways. |
First, check for any pressure at the schrader valve just to verify that you have no fuel coming through. Check for power at the pump. If you are getting power at the pump, then you probably have a dead fuel pump. If you don't have power at the pump, then you need to start backtracking and see where the signal has been lost. It won't be VATS. VATS will still allow the pump to prime and it should actually start and shut off after a few seconds. It kills the injector pulse after that. You might check the relay. Here's a pic for reference. This should make it a little easier for you. http://shbox.com/1/fuel_pump_relay.jpg |
Well what ever is wrong with mine won't let the pump come on and the spark plug aren't gettin spark |
