need help car won't start

Hello everyone I have a 96 z28 I was jumping on the freeway yesterday
So I floored it then all of a sudden I herd a loud backfire nd car died.
I checked the fuel pressure it goes to 30 psi then drops down to 0 psi rite away
I think its the fuel pump any advice apreciated thanks aldo wen I tried to start it today it
Threw some smoke out the throttle body

check the fuel pressure regulator first to see if it is letting fuel into the vac hose or leaking externally on the housing. If it gets to 30psi it should hold it so it could be the regulator or the line from pump to the hard lines popped. Easier to check the regulator first and see if you can find a smoking gun.

Smoke out of the throttle body usually means its a timing/opti issue. But only hitting 30psi at prime then strait to zero, sounds like a weak and dying fuel pump.

30psi is low anyways. Is that with key on car off?

what kind of opti spark is on it? i had an ebay opti spin the the bearing to wear the rotor wasn't lined up right with the cam dowel, through everything off ripped my car apart down to the timing chain to see everything was in time and i could just not figure it out, put it this way when my cam dowel was at the 6 position, my rotor wasn't on the bad opti... figured it out by comparing it to my old one....
