i have a comps cam 305. it is at .050: 220I 230E .510/.510 on a 114lsa with a 110 icl. thinking if retarding this cam 4 degrees with a adjustable timing chain in my daily driver. any recc? itl ooks like the exhaust centerline will be roughly on a 122 making the intake a 114. should i or should i not. just asking. havent installed the cam yet but getting close to it. i was using th wallace cam calculator and it would suggest the the low rpm/idle would improve some plus spread the power out. dont care if im wrong but dont want to actually make the mistake and then be mad lol. thanks in advance

don't waste time with that cam and don't waste time with trying to screw with the characteristics messing with the timing chain.

my406cid 03-29-2013 11:50 AM

Damn sure don't retard it.

SS RRR 03-29-2013 04:48 PM

Why trying to reinvent the wheel? Just install it straight up and go.

Agreed. Retarding that cam will just turn a turd into a mushy turd.
Drop it in and degree it to see where it is. If it's 110 or more, bring it back to about 107 ICL.

Better yet sell off the cam and leave the car alone till he is willing to do something well.

What vehicle is this going in?

Catmaigne 04-02-2013 02:36 PM

I don't think the cc305 is the end of the world for someone who just wants a bit of lope for an old school small block, but if thread is max performance oriented then I think you should redo your whole build.
