What to do? cars been sitting for 9 years!
So my wife works with a girl who commented the other day how she wants this camaro gone that's been sitting in her drive for 9 years. She said $600 and she'd let it go. I told my wife it's probably a V6 all ragged out. Just got done looking at the car and its a damn Z with a 6 spd. I'm thinking about buying it but it's been sitting so long. The tires are rotten, everything rubber is rotten actually. The motor is bone stock but oil looks like sludge and all the vacuum lines are shot. The weather has been rough on this car! I guess my question is.. besides changing the oil and trying to get the old fuel out... What else needs to be done before I fire it up?

Story I got was the guy who showed me the car was the original owner. He sold it to his brother a year later who then drove it till around 2004 when he lost his license. Then let his brother move in with him for a number of years in which he never did get a new license or job. Got sick of the brother and kicked him out leaving his car in the driveway where it had been for several years already. He said it had probably been 6 years since he last opened the door lol.

buy it and see what it takes to get running, if not you have a partout that could land 2-3k. My car was sitting for a little less than that maybe 5-7 years its been sitting (it had Michelin pilot sports from the late 90s) Drained the fuel, put four new tires, new battery, then a fuel pump, did a few oil changes just to clean everything out. Then i had a running car, of course i went over the coolant, the diff fluid and gear oil in good time, as well as belts and hoses.

i'll buy it. ****, people spend $600 on just a torque converter. You'll have a WHOLE car for that. Buy it fix it and enjoy it... It'll be a hobby and something to do look at the bright side...

My car sat for 6-7 years, albeit inside. I changed all of the fluids and filters, tried to start it and learned that the fuel pump was bad. I changed the pump and it started. It was firing on probably two cylinders. I just kind of went from there. It needed a LOT of stuff.

I bet this car would nickle and dime a guy to death eventually. It is a little rough for my taste if I was to drive it around anyway. Buddy and I are going to go look at it again later today. Might pull the battery out of my TA and take the wheels/tires off in case we buy it... we MIGHT be able to start it and drive off.
