Default Afr 180s and llyod cam done! stupid oil leak

Well i got my cars together but its leaking at the front of the pan pretty bad. so im off to pick up a oil pan gasket today and seal that up. sounds pretty damn good ill get some videos after i fix oil leak!

anyone just done the oil pan gasket without removing the pan? does it stretch easily enough to go around the outside of the pan? thanks guys

Do you think it would be easier to remove the motor mount bolts and lift the motor up or dropping the crossmember? I only ask because I had a pickup tube fall off so I lifted the motor and pulled the pan all the way off to put a pickup tube retainer on. The motor lifted up far enough to pull the pan, and all I had to do was pull the motor mount bolts.

I have an A4. Its harder to get the pan off with an M6, but still, lifting the motor should give you enough room to navigate a new gasket on the pan.

oil pan gasket was pretty damn easy. but its still leaking. same exact spot. I cant see a leak from timing cover but im assuming its coming from there. hard to see.. prob gonna pull the crank pulley and peak back there. its gotta be from a seal. they are all new ive got no idea.

cant even get my stupid valve covers to seal either. all the hard stuff done so murphy is hitting me with the easy jobs with tons of crap.

After changing that pan gasket and its still there, i would almost bet it is the water pump drive seal, or possibly the opti seal. I just had an oil leak, looked like it was from the front of pan also, but it was from the water pump drive seal. It is very common on the lt1s for this to leak.

^^What he said. I had a bad leak up front and it was the water pump drive seal. Its very easy to mess it up when installing if you don't have the right tool to install it.
