Default ls1 ram air on lt1?

Hey guys im looking for some info if anyone can help me out. I want to put a ram air intake on my 96 firebird. The question is do i have to also get the ram air hood or is it possible to keep the stock hood? ive been looking endlessly on ebay but can not find a ram air set up for a 93-97 firebird/trans am. Is there another solution? will a ram air set up off an LS car bolt on? i dont want to have to cut the hood or a support bar if possible!

LT1 ram air intake = ram air hood needed

LS1 lid i think you can put on and get away without having the ram air hood but it will require you to cut your radiator core support and hack up the underside of your hood.

you can reuse your stock MAF. that's what i did. GM didn't change the MAF for the ram air cars. you might need a MAF extension cable since you'll be relocating the MAF. The hoods can be found on ebay, there's a real GM hood on there right now for $370. it's all about where you're located. i snagged an oem hood back in 08 unpainted for $307.xx off ebay and had to drive ~ 150 mi each way to pick it up but it was near my aunt and uncle's house so we made a weekend trip out of it.

Yeah, I bought a aftermarket on used for 250 with the lid down the street from me. It had been in an accident so the latch had snapped, but for 250 I made it a bolt on and called it a day.

I can't see where you're at, but I have an original ram air hood that needs work (gel coat is flaking). Pm me if you're interested. I do know that the z28 base and a lid will clear under the ram air hood, I don't know if the ws6 base will tho.
