Default Anybody have a stock cam laying around??

Just looking for a stock cam, or maybe small cam (cc304). Just an upgrade for my daily driver B-body

I have one all wrapped up ready to go. Mike V. wanted it, but he hasn't said anything about it.

It would be STUPID to put a stock f-body cam in it.
Yes the f-body made a little more peak HP than the b-body but it's torque comes in later and is less and the tuners will tell you in full bolton form both cars will make about the same power meaning the power difference was in everything BUT the cam.

The engineers might have softened the f-body lowend torque for their crappy 7.5" axle.

While I agree with 96capricemgr about putting a stock cam in. I have a 94 Lt1 on a stand that is getting a cam swap next week. Car had 130,000 on it. PM me if you are interested.

Scored one from the Impala site. Factory LT4 cam. I know it will change the torque curve. But I'm looking to pick up some on the big end. 3000 stall and 3.73's make for a torquey ride anyway. But with nitrous the b-body cam is falling short up top.

Only reason I was looking is bc I just popped a head gasket this evening and my timing chain cover has been leaking some oil. Since I have to tear down to fix these things I figured I might as well do a simple swap for a few more top end hp.

I would much sooner do something like ZZ4 cam.

You are mistaken if you thin k the b-body cam is that bad on the jug bowtienut went low 11s boltons plus nitrous.

If you install that cam straight-up, it will be a slug below 3000 RPMs.....even with the gears and the 3000 stall.

Might want to look at advancing that cam 2 degrees. You'll still have legs at the top end (more than a stock B-body cam), but will also pick up some push on the low end.

BTW.....what were you running with the nitrous and B-body cam? There are/were a number of B-body guys running low-12's to mid-11's with juice and the stock B-body cam and stock B-body (and F-body) heads.....

-Stock short block
-Iron Heads ( screw in studs, bowl blended, 2.00/1.55 valves, hot cam springs)
-Factory ported TB (54mm)
-Hooker headers
-2.5 exhaust with H-pipe
-Tune

I dont really race the car, I daily drive it. I carry my kids all the time. I average 19mpg.

You pissed money into the wind putting that effort into the iron heads unless you bought them cheap from someone else who pissed away their money.

I don't say that because iron is bad, but rather because the aluminum heads come with screwin studs and are easy to find pretty cheap, offer more compression and the valve size increase was wasted money unless the heads are fairly seriously ported in which case a few guys have had the iron heads crack.

Far as the mileage. I get about 18mixed driving with mine and 19ish on tanks I do a highway drive to the racetrack and race then highway home.

Driving a car a lot isn't an excuse for doing things stupid.

Ditch the Hot cam springs; they're literally the weakest 'aftermarket' springs you could possibly buy.

KW, I believe you're thinking of the Hotcam; he said Factory LT4 cam.
I'd install it straight up.
