Won't turn over Recently entered into the family by purchasing a 94' automatic Z28. One problem though, about 3 days after buying it, I go to start her up and all I hear is some clicking and no turning over. I have already had the alternator and battery tested and all come out good. So next step is the starter, I am gonna check out the connections for corrosion tonight and if all are good, ill have the starter checked out. If this doesn't work, I have run out of possible solutions. If any of you guys out there have any suggestions, I would love to hear them. Thanks! |
Most likely the starter. Should be 12v on red wire and if you can have someone help ya, check volts on ignition wire while turning the key. If you have 12 volts the starter is bad. |
One thing he forgot to mention. The car tries to start. It does a slight movement of the belt then dies out. Almost like it doesn't have enough power getting to it to keep it turning. Just another thought. |
these are the symptoms my 92 gmc had when the starter went bad. I used an old school trick to check but I dont want to recommend anyone try it. |
Recheck the connections at the battery and the other ends of both cables. One easy test is turn on the headlamps and see what happens to them when you hit the starter. Al 95 Z28 |
Smack the starter with a hammer. If its not completely dead it will give you some more starts. |
