Default Lt1 water pump issues....

Quick Info before I get started,

94z m6 63k miles currently.

I bought the car a year ago with 52k on it. Replaced the radiator, water pump (both OE ac delco) and all cooling hoses because it was slightly leaking from the weep hole. I completely flushed the system and drained everything from the block/heater core as best as I could and replaced it with the prestone "green" 50/50 coolant.

The car has always run cool and never had any issues with overheating. But recently I noticed that the water pump is leaking slightly from the weep hole again. Is it just the pump and I got a bad one? Or is something else wrong? Because I'm sure that an brand new oe pump should last longer than it has.

Also when I looked at the coolant in the radiator the little fins seemed to have a little rust on them. Not a lot but to me it seemed like a little more than normal? Coolant looked fine however. Any help is greatly appreciated and I'll get some pics up asap!

Thank you,

Branden

Unfortunately new, rebuilt, it doesn't matter as the LT1 pumps do often weep from the hole. This will get in/on the Opti and also belt causing slip (usually power steering slips)

The WP should be a 100k mi no hassle unit but some will leak right out of the box.

I went electric WP shortly after my 96 went out of warrenty as dealer replaced many do to leaks at weep hole. Been 16 years now, same EWP, no problem.

It your WP is weeping, it will continue and not "fix" itself....replacing WP is the only option

Yeah I figured that but is it normal for the radiator fins/ walls to have slight rust in them after only a year? That coolant is by no means rusty but I just would think it shouldnt be rusting after only a year?
