Default BMR Torque Arm Contacting VSS

I was under my car today and realized the end of the torque arm is contacting the VSS on the tailshaft of the trans. The car has a Moser 9", 4L60E, and BMR Adjustable Torque Arm (trans mounted). The frame of the car is on jackstands and the rearend is slightly raised to keep the tires off the ground.

Has anyone else had this issue? If so what is the cause and possible fix required?

I had the same thing happen, i couldn't find anyone else that had the issue either. I was going to just trim the end of the tube enough to clear but I had to install a torque arm relocation bracket anyway. I always thought it had something to do with the 9" I bought that had a broken and re welded torque arm bracket but I guess not.

Forgot about the relo bracket, was thinking I might have to buy a whole new torque arm.

well looks like I got 3 options

-relocate the torque arm mount
-cut down the torque arm
-see if I can adjust the torque arm shorter

Yep, sounds like a Moser rear. I had to cut a little bit off of my UMI adj torque arm to get it to fit on my 9". Their "bolt in" housings blow.

LCAs were extremely loose in the brackets so I made shims from washers
Panhard didn't fit so I had to file one of the rod ends
E-brake cable mounts for LS1 brakes didn't fit, had to be cut
Sway bar touched the diff housing with the mounts I paid extra for
TA was loose on the cast mount (was clunking), made a shim out of 18ga steel
TA was too far forward and the end had to be shortened
TA mount was so crooked that the TA wouldn't bolt up (contacting driveshaft)... I had to use washers on 2 mounting posts to align it

And before anyone says it's the UMI torque arm, I tried everything with the stock stamped steel piece and the problems were the same.

IMO a a torque arm relocation crossmember is one of the best chassis mods. It really tightenes up the chassis response but degrades ride quality somewhat. If you go that route to solve your problem you won't regret it.

I agree. I am glad I wasn't alone with this problem.
