you'd have to take .264" to get to 4" bore.... thats a lot of material. Not sure i'd want to try that.

Probably cost more to machine IF possible than it would take to buy a block.

Just buy a real LT1 and start over. Often a real LT1 can be had in good running condition for $500 or less, chalk it up to a cheap lesson learned.

I dont know but would be interested to find out myself. Building a small bore displacement L99 costs just as much or maybe even more if u need custom pistons as a 350" or 383" stroker. And i can imagine u would need costly labor to balance a 350 or 383 stroker crank in a L99 which only makes 318" or 343". And unless u bore the block out to 4" im not sure if LT1 heads could be used without the vlvs hitting the cyl walls. So u may be stuck with the tiny vlv L99 heads too. And with the stock iron heads it likely weighs more than a stock LT1 also.

Kinda like taking a whole lot more effort to make less power than a 350" block. But u need to have it sonic tested to know for sure. I think u can use the chevy 307 pistons (if u can find them) at 3.875" bore (and maybe 0.060" over for 3.935") to get u to 328" w/350 crank (338" w/0.060" over) or 354" w/3.75 stroker crank.

Most likey option is a 0.060" over 3.75" L99 bore = 274". But u should be able to use a 350" crank (3.48") and 305" 0.060" over pistons for = 3.796" bore (3.736" + 0.060"). W/3.48" crank (350") u end up with a 315" motor. Not really all that bad if u consider a good cam will make 1.1 hp/ci which is something like 350hp. If LT1 heads and vlvs will fit that bore expect more power.

So what im saying here i guess is to have the block sonic tested for max boring and then try to fit up some stock LT1 heads. So many options with a sbc it will make u dizzy. But its kinda fun also.

Good luck and please post what u find out.

I asked this a long time ago and the answer was no. The cylinder walls on the L99 are about the same thickness as cylinder walls from an LT1.

I got my ENTIRE car for 800$ in great condition minus the paint. Id sell the L99 block and find an LT1. There are really nice Engine running complete with trans and wiring harnesses on eBay going for less than 1000$. But if all you need is the block you could get one for 300-500$ probably. But to also answer your question, I wouldn't. It probably can be done but by the time you get it machined and tested and bleh blah blippy blah you'll have way more money then you'd have wrapped up in a LT1 build.
