Default Concerned With Torque Numbers?

Car is 97 Z28 A4 with 75,500 miles on it.

Mods are:

- Pacesetter 1 3/4in Longtubes into 3in collector
- Pacesetter 3in ORY
- Exhaust IS dumped right after y-pipe with custom turndown
- Underdrive crank pulley

Torque was only 295 to the rear wheels.

Now recently I have added an SLP airfoil (every little bit helps lol), full lingenfelter cold air intake and the 1LE elbow upgrade. I'm curious to know if my torque numbers are low, about right, would be improved with full exhaust? If full exhaust I'm pretty set on GMMG with the slash tips, thoughts? Also will be getting in a 160 degree stat, have the fan tuned to turn on at 180 degrees like suggested with the SLP 160 degree stat.

I would have to think I'm over 300+ rear wheel torque now no? Alot of numbers I've seen most people are 320's on torque etc or higher! Maybe my lack of an exhaust is really that much of a killer!

Thanks!

That's pretty on my par with what an auto LT1 will put down. My car stock with just the muffler cut off dyno'd 281/317 on a dynojet. That's a 6-speed car though, they always dyno higher. With bolt ons it dyno'd 294/324. Don't get too caught up on numbers. An auto car has more drivetrain loss and will always dyno lower. Full exhaust would help a bit though.

figured so but wanted to ask the ltx section! Hoping with the ever so slight bolt on's I've done I can crack 280/300

My point is dyno numbers mean crap. Its a tuning tool and dick measuring contest.

Trap/weight shows more impressive results.

I know MAM (now I29 Dragway) is only an 1/8th mile but they are under new ownership/management this year and I heard they have been doing many improvements to the track and facility. I've also heard many comments on how well the track was hooking the past few Friday night street race nights, in the past it was the opposite. I haven't been there yet this year but hope they practice good track prep all year.

Good to me enough to clear a UMI driveshaft safety loop meant for stock exhaust!

I thought maybe you left some on the table with your current exhaust set up.

I agree dyno numbers are just numbers. What it traps at the strip tells the story. Take it to the strip and run low-mid 13s !

Also I think it is retarded that basically all long tube headers for the lt1 are 1 3/4 diameter instead of 1 5/8. That's why I went with mac mid headers because they are 1 5/8. Dyno's have shown them making 310rw torque at 1800-2000 rpm because they flow good and they are small enough diameter to keep exhaust velocity good. 1 3/4 are overkill and you lose torque on a bolt on lt1. With ported heads and a cam with 450+hp then I would think 1 3/4 headers would be of benefit. Just my opinion though.

GMMG is a good choice. Love the sound. Ditch that pace setter y pipe for a flomaster merge and I think you'll have a nice little gain.

I just have the pacesetter long tubes I assumed 1 3/4?

Yep they are 1 3/4. They should make as much torque as 1 5/8 just at a higher rpm. I wanted to keep my low end torque for daily driving so the macs fit the ticket.

Yup, One guy at a muffler shop installed 1 3/4 long tube on his stock LT, no bolt ons, and before he could fry the tires, after it would not, and he was so pissed he sold the car, and not he did not get it tuned..
