H/C build must have parts

IMO no reason not to rev the car past 6000rpm.
It's kinda like if you've never bought an lt1 and ask someone about them. They'll tell you the OPTi is going to blow up the first week you have it and give you all kinds of issues.
Its a good motor, it'll do just fine. Keep it to 6500 or under

Bufmat- it would be a good race you have a quick bolt on LT1. You guys have me pinned! Of course I would shift at 6000 if racing a ls1 or a pony. But 95% of the time while just driving I will be shifting between 4000 and 5500 tops therefore I am going with lloyd's 215/227 cam. It has a ton of lift at .546/.565. I don't want any short cuts with building the top end. I want to do the meziere ewp to take pressure of the cam bearings, hardened pushrods, and good quality rr's. Question is do I need to go with nsa roller rockers or will sa rr's be okay. Lloyd rec the lunati 15345-16 sa rr's. They look like good rr's. Would they handle the lift of that cam and be reliable? ??

SA rockers will be just fine. .546 " valve lift is not very much. SA rockers are definitely more cost effective and will do fine.
The best advise I ever got before cam swapping any car was that once it's all said and done... You'll wish you would have gone bigger..

I made 358 with stock injectors years ago, but they were over 110% duty cycle. Maybe you could find a set of used 28s out of a stock LS1 or LS6 for a good price if you don't want to step up to the SVO 30s.
I would go with NSA RRs in any performance application, but that's just me.

Thanks for the info. LS1 injectors would feed up to 375rw??? I would like to spend $100 or less if I uograde injectors. I'm doing the meziere 55gpm ewp for sure. New opti wires coil and plugs. Is the oem ignition coil the best? I have heard good and bad about the msd.

OEM ignition coil is fine, actually I prefer it. I've heard that in some cases the high powered aftermarket coils can be bad for optis.
The CSI water pump is cheaper than the Mez, I believe and just as good according to most.
LS1/LS6 28# injectors will be sufficient.

If your current opti is working fine I'd leave that alone also, particularly if it's a vented unit. If you do replace it, do so only with a OEM GM Delphi unit and upgrade to the 1996-1997 vented version. NOT MSD, Accell or parts-store cheapo knock-offs, those are responsible for a large percentage of opti troubles people experience.

Hellteeone, I have an original vented opti on my 96 z28. 95000 miles. My car has a slight miss or hesitation around 5200rpm usually when im doing a hard pull. Could be wire, plug, I don't know? Should I at least change the cap and rotor when I do H/C? Or should I just slap a new opti on there?
