I've seen the setups below the engine... and I live in SW FL where that would be 'inadvisable', due to the likelihood of sudden and heavy showers.
So they need to remain above the engine.
Anything you could offer would be much appreciated.

I've seen people make little cradles and mount them to the firewall up high, also mount them hanging from the cowl. I almost had a custom plate made that sat on top of the intake manifold and mounted at angles side by side.
Custom mounted and sit between the valve cover and fuel rail kinda like some of the kits for the LS engines.
Plenty of options. It just comes down to how crafty can you get.

^^^ it's all custom. You just gotta get creative and make it happen.
I like the firewall mounting.
I've also pondered what if it would work to mount them to the sides of the strut towers.
Not really sure

I just finished my 24x swap and mounted mine on the intake / fuel rail. I have the d585 truck coils and used brackets off of eBay. I don't have them permanently mounted yet, but will at some point.

I saw a number of brackets on E-bay I liked, but none for the Coils I have, which seem to be the largest coils available.
So I fab'd this up...
Eventually I'll pick up a set of smaller, more streamlined LS7 coils... and redo this... but tomorrow I fab up another one of these, and figure out exactly how I'm going to attach them.

Ignition coils don't care where they are so, long as they're not exposed to weather or high heat.
When I had my LT1 with the LTCC system, I made up triangular plates from sheet metal with tabs to go under the valve cover bolts. The coils sat side by side with 1/4" threaded rod running through them with nuts keeping everything separated.
Here it is with the LS2 coils:
