Default lt1 hard start and stalling

Hello,

My lt1 383 stroker has issues with every start. I have to push in the gas pedal just to get it to start. Once it starts if I take my foot off the gas it will die every time. Now it will rev just fine if I give it more gas(performs correctly when gas is applied). I took out the injectors and checked for leaks. One injector was leaking past the fuel rail to injector "0" ring. I replaced that. I Dont know what would cause the hard starts and stalling issue. Maybe the MAF sensor.....maybe the idle air control valve. Has anyone experienced this?

Thank you

Data log it and look at the IAC counts.

Year make and model? If it's a 1993-1995 it's a free program (Scan9495) and a cheap OBD cable. You plug it into the OBD port and run the program while you drive. It records everything your computer is seeing and doing. Then you can play it back (or watch it as it records) and use those readings to troubleshoot issues.

The egr system was deleted by PCM for less. Would this passenger side egr hook up be causing me to stall out?

Egr should not effect idle. You need to find an OBD2 scanner and look at the IAC counts when you're trying to idle.

I am on a low budget at the moment. Looks like actron makes one, also looks like there is a less expensive usb to computer program that comes with a CD. Did you purchase one of these, and if so which would be best?

I have an OBD1 car, so my stuff is different than yours. I don't know what is available for OBD2 cars. I think TTS datamasters has something for your car with something like 20 free scans. But I'm not sure. You will need a 16 pin OBD2 ALDL to USB cable, I think they are only $60 (or less) or if you're savvy enough you can make your own for less than $10.

If ur having problems with ur car like that, i would say ur fuel pump is culperit for the startings. I would check ur fuel rail for psi. My 95 did the same thing. Replaced the fuel pump... she runs a whole lot better now. No whine, or very little whine from ur pump prolly indicates a faulty pump.

So I ran my car on an Innova OBD2 scanner. A mechanic read it with me. He said everything looked good, except for the amount of air the engine was getting. He said it seems to be running rich, and that its probably the idle air control valve.
