1995 Keyless Remote Entry-shbox
My 1995 Trans am did not come with the KRE option.
It does have Power Door Locks.
Does anyone know if all 1995's have a receiver in the right kick panel?
(its currently in storage and covered).
If so, I could buy a transmitter and program it. Right?
if not, can I buy a receiver, transmitter
and just plug it in and program it?
Thanks for taking the time to answer!!
I have spent a couple hours searching for an answer to my exact questions.
Thanks!

I could be mistaken but I do not think all Firebirds came with a receiver in the right kick panel, in fact I do not think mine did. I cannot recall since it was so long ago, but I do now have a receiver. I have had to replace the receiver a time or two from ones found at local junk yards (right above the kick panel seems to be the spot where mice and such like to build nests and cause the receiver to get damaged, so they can be hard to find in good shape).
This is very helpful:

AU0 would be the RPO code if your car was equipped with keyless entry. I am not aware if all cars came with the module. I would think not if it did not have the option.
If it has the module, yes, you certainly can buy a fob and program it.

Well, I definitely do not have the AUO option.
So the question becomes, if there isn't a receiver there,
Can I buy a used receiver and a key fob, (transmitter)
and (SIMPLY) plug the receiver into the existing harness at the right kick panel location.
btw I am not Mr. Goodwrench.

Credit to "firehawkjeff" for this response on EBay.
The door accessory harness is different for cars with keyless entry feature. There are no connectors for the module on a car without it. That harness runs along the firewall from door to door.
And adding it can open up a few issues. The door accessory harness is the first piece installed (other than the rubber insulation) on the firewall when the car is on the assembly line. So you have to remove your dash to install. And to remove your dash you have to remove your crash pad (thin plastic between dash and windshield). The crash pad was never meant to be removed and re-stalled on these models (97-02 you can remove and re-install). The crash pad had tabs that snap into blind holes. So if your crash pad is older or original, it's going to break into a thousand pieces. Even if you had installed a brand new crash pad yesterday, and try to remove it, you will break a couple of the mounting tabs.

Not trying to hijack but I've been having a nagging question in the back of my mind for years.. Can I get an LS1 style or 96-02 key fob and program it to my 94' car? I have the old box style key fob and it barley works I think it's worn out..

Don't think so. The fobs are only compatible with certain receivers and years.
