Z28 SS need help
I I have a 1996 Camaro Z28 Super Sport police interceptor. I'm trying to figure out what type of motor it has in it I think it's the last one but I'm not sure. It also has a very bad detonation in the cylinder backfiring and it has a massive ticking. I'm trying to figure out what is wrong and how to fix it please. I need a lot of help. My baby is hurting

Info
It has only 62k and it is straight clean. It has the ungraded 6 speed and the 5.7 but betting that I need help figuring out what type of trans n engine specs it holds. It might have been ungraded beyond stock specs. Don’t know how to figure it out, so if anybody could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you

If its in a camaro, and its the stock engine and trans, then its a 285hp 2 bolt main LT1, with a T56 6 speed trans, just like in every other V8 camaro. Theres a ton of different things that can cause a misfire. Start with new NGK TR55 spark plugs and new Taylor 8 or 8.2mm wires to give it a tune up, and if that doesnt fix it, its likely the opti. Is it throwing a SES light? Did you read the codes?
The only way to find out whats been changed on the car is to start inspecting it. Does it still have cast iron exhaust manifolds, or are the tubular? Looking under the car, does it have cats? If you have tubular exhaust manifolds, how far down the car is the collector where the 4 pipes on 1 side join? If they join in the engine bay, they are shorty style, if they join under the car, they are long tubes, if they join halfway down, they are mid tubes.
Does it have the stock airbox for the intake, or does it have a round filter on the end? If it has a round filter, its a cold air intake.
Does it have orange shocks? Orange are stock, any other color is aftermarket.
Does the shifter stick have a bend in it? If its straight, its aftermarket. If the throw is less than around 10", thats another way to know if its aftermarket.
Pull the valve covers, its only 4 bolts, does it have stamped steel rocker arms that look like a little cup with a nut inside, or does it have a roller on the end and is a hard body?
The absolute easiest way to tell if something is done to it (which you cant do right now likely because of the quarantine) is take it to a track and see what mph it runs in the 1/4. If its around 98 to 100, its stock. If its 110+, its got something done to it.
