Default Will these springs work with a cc503 and 1.6's?

I've come across a set of heads that were recently just cleaned up, and have these springs on them. Will these work on a 503? Thank you!

With a 1.6 ratio, your lift would be 0.536/0.544.

Depending on where the springs were set up at,installed height, these may work just fine.

That spring only has a 105 lb's at a 1.8"installed height and a 313 lb/in rate with a coil bind of 1.100"

On a stock LT1 head, I would assume that the installed height would be closer to 1.750", which would bring the seat load to 120.65 #'s, and that lift would put you at an open height of 1.206" (used exhaust lift number since it's the biggest). The open pressure would be 290.922 #'s.

Those pressures will be fine up to 6200 RPM's give or take a bit for some variables that has not been discussed.

So basically this is not a good spring for a high winder? I'm not gonna take it to 6700 every day, but the one day a week I'll drive it spiritedly I don't wanna float the valves.

I would be more concerned they are Comp "bee hive"....given that you want to spin the motor, 6700 RPM, you could soon be one of many members of the 2 piece Comp bee hive spring club

will the springs otherwise "work" with the 503 cam, yes.

I'm not planning on winding it up to that very often. Whenever I do my burnouts at the track I'll sometimes run it up there for a fraction of a second, or maybe very, very rarely on the street as there will be no usable power there

If you plan on going to 6700 RPM's then no.

Might I suggest the Comp Conical 7228-16, you should be able to reuse your current retainers, seats and seals.

it only takes .0xx of a second to go boom. Breaking a valve spring 99% of the time destroys the motor or very least the valve involved and that piston.

will the 915's work, yes. Just not the spring I would use in any motor anytime...having broken a 918 at 20k mi and diligently checked springs at 5k, 10k, 15k miles

stock cam motors spinning under 5500 RPM they will last...although some have broken them in those applications. Given the choices of springs available I would not risk my motor with them. YMMV

I would/do use these

LE recommended them to me

I was not aware that you were wanting to go to 6700 RPM's (doesn't matter how many times....or how often).

I would not suggest using the 26915-16 spring for any more than 6200 RPM's with that combo.

Please look into the Conical that I posted a link to.

Comps Conical spring is their new offering over their bee hive (915 & 918). Have not heard any + or - about them. They are a single spring just like the bee hive so leave no room for failure if one breaks.

They are a "newer" spring design and may prove to be very good

Either way given Op's intended RPM use I would not use the 915's
