Default 3rd gen 1le spare on a 4th gen

Will a 3rd gen 1le spare fit on a 4th gen? I know the 3rd gen rear was 2" narrower than a 4th gen, but will the smaller spare tire still fit? The 1le had a light weight aluminum spare and I'd love that instead of a steel 4th gen donut.

^ it is 2016 where the **** is the like button?

Keeping a spare in the car means you also have to keep the tools to change a tire not to mention drawbacks:

1. Rear blowout: driving a modded f-body with a rear donut sucks.
2. Front blowout: not a lot of people run same tire sizes front and back so rotating the fronts to put the donut in the back might be impossible but if it is see #1
3. We are a lot more connected these days and AAA could be out there faster than it takes for you to stop cursing the world over the inconvenience.

You might have an issue with your brake calibers. Don't 3rd gen spares measure something like 14 or 15"? Since the offset is different it too could interfere with the caliper.

Some other 3rd gens also got the light aluminum spare, not just the 1LE's. My friends IROC had 15" wheels and he had the aluminum spare. My '87 IROC had the regular steel spare.

the AAA card was what I used when I had my last flat, but it took an hour and a half for him to get me, another hour to get home, and I literally almost had to **** over the jersey barrier. I had to do the same contraction excercises the doctors taught my wife when she was pregnant in order to not give birth to the next 8lb 6oz baby jesus, except he wouldn't have been swaddled in a manger, he would have been swaddled in work papers on the side of the highway. A light spare and a jack would have at least gotten me to a gas station. You don't think a GTO spare is too big to fit in the spare tire well? It wouldn't be a bad idea to maybe just get 2 drag skinnys and use 1 as a spare tire.

A ratchet/breaker bar and socket, and the stock scissor lift. Hmm, lots of tools.

Done it, doesn't suck that much. It at least gets you home/to the shop for a new tire.

So? A donut is a different size anyway. And it's better to put the donut on the front anyway. It specifically says not to drive too fast with the spare on the rear, because it's terrible for a live axle.

I have AAA, and it takes them 30-45 minutes on a good day. A spare can be done in less than that.

My personal experience versus your personal experience Mr. Spartan7. I would just keep the stock donut and not be concerned about the weight if having a spare was that important.
