Opti spark sucks! Do they make one worth a shit??

My cheap one from O'Reilly has been going strong for over a year now. Part GM#22. Lifetime warranty with a brick and mortar store that has the item on hand beats designer brand optis purchased online.
tldr: purchase an Opti that'll give you the least turnaround when having it serviced/swap for warranty.

another thread on another forum notes MSD is potentially having issues with their current optis. Does not seem to be a final end to the OP's issue in the thread link but Injunier notes he was working with MSD on a solution that MSD seems cooperative in finding out wtf is going on.

My $.02 is use a original AC Delco opti if you can and replace C&R with a MSD C&R if/when needed.

Installed one from Advance for $115 w/ lifetime warranty. Took it apart and inspected and will say the quality looked compared to NON Delco optis in years past. Seals were good and the wheel was not warped.
Still RTV'd it together and loctited the rotor screws and its been working fine. Call it the cynic but I would not at all be surprised id the Delcos are coming from China now days.

From everything I've ever read on this forum, the determining factor of what is a "good" or a "bad" Opti, is the optical sensor. Mitsubishi sensors were what were used as OE, and were good, but others not so good.
FWIW, you CAN replace just the cap and rotor, on an OptiSpark distributor. Standard Ignition Products did make them, at least they did 8-10 years ago. With respect to alternate brands, for Opti replacements, there was, at one time, an outfit making what they referred to as "super HD Optis", selling them under the Dynaspark brand. However, I think they went out of business. Too limited a market....
