My car is a V8 6 speed w/skip shift eliminater added.I would like to know what gear ratio I should go with for street without any major modifications,I don't mind getting lesser highway mileage,I want more ***** when I get going. Also any suggestions on torque converter.

4.10's are a common upgrade for 6 speed street cars.

your car doesn't have a torque converter as it is a manual transmission, only automatics have a torque converter

Bless you, my friend. My factory gear ratio paired with my driving style is more annoying than I can stand. When driving around town at 30mph in fourth gear and 40mph in fifth gear, I am inclined to go with a higher gear! I want to stay in a gear longer and not have to speed shift to higher gears when cruising. Also, I am traveling faster with a higher gear ratio than I am with my factory gearing, and for driving around town in lower rpms, this is an ideal mileage technique.

nope, 4.10's are perfect for bolt on cars such as what you have.

no need to upgrade the clutch unless your current one is already bad, stock clutch is fine for your mods/power level

you can go online for a rpm calculator selecting rear tire size, rear gear and what gear in the T56 (1-6) to see what your rpms would be in any given gear at x speed

I have 4:10 & a 27" tall tire and my rpm is 19xx at 80 mph

on the street its a 4 speed, highway 5th and I generally don't shift into 6th unless maintaining 65 mph or more

many feel 4:10 is the ideal gear unless you get into running a much shorter tire....then 3:73 may suit your driving more

You will need to get the PCM reprogrammed so your speedo is correct with different than stock gears
