Default New Engine Dyno Results!

Midwest engine tech just finished up my 383 LT1. I will post more information once I get in a laptop. Here are the results:
For some reason I can't post pictures today.. I'll try the laptop a little later.
The average was 497HP/498TQ

Engine Dyno I wish it was to the wheels.. it's going to be mostly street driven for fun to shows/crusies and the occasional quarter mile runs.

Wow! Those are some pretty bad *** numbers. You going auto or manual? Probably close to 450 wheel through a manual or something like that wouldn't it? Boost it!

Rule of thumb is 15% through a manual.

Eh... 18 to 20%? That's what I've heard, but you'll have the direct data if you get it dynoed on a chassis dyno.

Nice, details on the set up? When you mentioned FLP I had to see what year this thread was from. Crazy they're still around, they used to sell Dynatechs with smog equipment. In the early 00's those were the headers to have.

Heads flow similar to LE1s, flat as hell torque curve! Was still making good power at 6200, what's the bottom end setup? It doesn't mention a new crank or rods in there, but the size of the cam and how it still had 500 crank hp at 6200, you should take it to the track and make runs changing the shift points starting at 6400rpm all the way to 7000 and see what gives best times, should be around 6800 im guessing. Autos kill about 18-20% so it'll be around 400 at the tire, should be good for mid to low 11s depending on the rest of the car. Congrats!

It's a Callie's crank and Compstar rods. I bought the engine used and was setup for boost and was making 725whp. But long story short the guy lied and the engine had a blown head gasket and cracked pistons so I got it rebuilt.

Mine made 710 to the wheels and the dyno calculated 806 flywheel, so yup, around there...

Heads don't have anything to do with the characteristics of a torque curve. Valve timing does.

Not saying that timing affects the TQ curve, all I know that EVERY LE setup I tune has a flat torque curve compared to other builds, the torque curve looks like a camel hump.

Valve timing, meaning breathing characteristics dictated by cam profile.
