Default Ignition switch and connector

Long story short, car wouldn't start out of the blue so I picked up a new ignition switch. While replacing I noticed the connector was fried as well. Why does my current connector have 4 wires, but replacements come with 5?

Because the connector may fit other vehicles that have more wires. You can remove any wires you don't need.

Right on, thanks. I noticed the set up on your site was the same as what I have now, but I didnt know why the connectors were different. I do now.
