I am totally ignorant to tuning and the 24X, and I have no idea what the tuner will need once I get that far (I am probably 3 months away from finishing my build). Does it make sense for me to get the GM part number 15865791 MAF sensor installed for the tuner, or are there other choices that work better?
Thank you for anything you can teach me.
Mike
As long as there is a Dump File with the type MAF your are going to use, Thats all your tuner will need.

Thank you Moe! I do appreciate your input and I know you are more than capable of tuning (MAF) forced induction LT1’s, but with my goals, and the research and information I had found; I decided to go speed density. (This was the tuners suggestion as well)
luckily, I am close enough to get the car completed and flatbed it to the tuner before I screw anything up.

East Coast Supercharging. Like everyone else, they have moved past Gen2 LT1’s, but I really wanted them to do the tune (with all of their centrifugal experience). After a great telephone call, Doug agreed to help me out.

My buddy just had ECS tune his blown C5Z 2 weeks ago. I had the car for one day last week and it flat out performs. Made 670 wheel with long tubes, blower cam, 10#, and meth. Doug seems to take the conservative approach which is good. Car could use just a touch more return to idle work (I’m very picky, my buddy is fine with it) but is otherwise great. The cam has +4 degrees of overlap and it doesn’t buck at all in the real low rpms despite me trying to get it to which is impressive. They also tuned my C5Z back when it was a bolt-on car. What I’m trying to say is, you should be in good hands.

Just make sure they realize LT1 Gen 2 stuff does not like the same timing as an LSX based engine.

^^^ Thats the big one there, alot of "Tuners" will tune it as an LSX instead of an LT1

I understand; thank you.
Doug is familiar with the Gen2 LT1 needs and differences. The Gen2 details did make finding a local tuner very difficult.
Truth be told, if I hadn’t already “pregnant” with the completed 396 LT1 build, I would have just done a supercharged LSX swap.
thank you to all who chimed in to help me!

Still at least a month away from tuning. Just finished buying and remounting an Impala accessory drive system (my old supercharger required a Corvette accessory drive). I have to get the engine back in, and I expect the RMCR supercharger kit to arrive sometime in mid-July.

Speed Density is more prone to drift with atmospheric weather changes. I have tuned ALOT of vehicles and the MAF/MAP blended tunes run noticeably better. I prefer the air actually being measured as it enters the engine.

Interesting, the "card" MAF looks like what Porsche uses on the 99 and up 911 engines..
