Going to one CAT I have a 97 z28 the someone deleted the cats on, the tune they used to remove the CEL light was removing the instrument cluster and cutting out the led on the electric board. I soldered a new one in and plan on welding a new custom exhaust but my question is can I Y pipe into one cat and y pipe out the back again? I want to avoid having two cats if possible to lower costs. Will that satisfy the CEL? Thanks.
The 93-95 LT-1 F-bodies only had one cat. You could switch to that type of exhaust, but your still going to have to deal with two down-stream O2 sensors since you have an OBD II car. If you don't have emissions in your area, I wouldn't worry about cats.
The big question is with emissions. If you have an emissions inspection, you'll fail automatically for only one cat. The rear O2's can be tuned out, they're only used to detect cat efficiency anyway.
