Speed engineering headers and Y pipe i was wondering if anyone had any experience with speed engineering headers and Y pipe on a 1993-1997 firebird and if it is worth the $300 to buy them for my 1994 trans am? Any feedback is welcome, suggestions as to what headers to buy is welcome aswell!
As mentioned in the other thread, it depends on your plans and wallet. The Speed Engineering headers are economy headers and are priced as such. If this is an budget build, they are a great option. I have had the SE headers and ORY on my 96 Z28 for about 10 months. Fitment on my car is tight but manageable. I was impressed with the build quality/welds although the gaskets and bolts that came with them left a lot to be desired. I actually used ARP header bolts. Next time I remove them, I will use a higher quality gasket as well.
I've had their stepped 1 3/4-1 7/8 on my car for almost 2 years now. They are much better quality than the Hooker Super Comps that they replaced. They are still holding up well, and pull harder up top than the Hooker headers did. I also used a Felpro header gasket though.

Used the set up on my 95. Decent fitment for the price. Definitely do new motor mounts while you have the manifolds out. I didn't and the headers rubbed in 2 spots. Not bad. Had to dent the primary by the steering shaft because it rubbed. Probably wouldn't have to if I did the motor mounts. Definitely do the arp 12 point header bolts. The stock ones won't fit. Not enough room by the primarys. Also get felpro header gaskets. Don't use the ones the kit comes with. And get better exhaust clamps. The provided ones suck. Amazon sells 3inch stainless lap joint claps. Get those. Don't forget the O2 harness extenders
