Crank seal My name is Tommy Im new to this forum. My 96 Trans am has been sitting for over 12 years I have 2 Daughters now College . My car has 100,000 miles on her Ive been replacing the leaking timing cover seals I put the cam seal in the freezer for 20 minutes installed it dry no problem, water pump seal 20 mins freezer plus used the tool to install no problem accept took a mintue to get the tool off. lol I forgot to do the freezer thing with the crank and bent the seal enough to make me order a new one. All the seals installed dry I will put lube on the rubber part of the crank seal for start up. I spoke with Rob from shbox awesome person who suggested Optispark reconditioning service with data that it works | eBay for my opti I see this person has been doing it for years with all good reviews. plus he buys optis for 70.00 dollars. Are these crank seals problematic to get in Im hoping I just had it a little crooked I had a small flat piece of wood to smack it in straight with.Any tips if it is a pita would be much appreciated. You can buy a Felpro crank seal at just about any auto part store. It also comes in the FelPro front timing cover seal/gasket set which is bout $12. For the crank seal gently tap on it in a circular motion until it just starts to go in all around. Then take a block of wood or a seal driver that size and a hammer and drive it in flush. Basic seal install

Thanks for the reply. I finally have some time to work on My car seems not much on it is easy took a while to get my A/C compressor out. I want to change my plugs and wires that seems like its going to be a pita lol. The good thing is I love working on cars and Im having fun and she needs alot of work.........Thanks again...Tommy

I got the crank seal in after about 15 minutes in the freezer. All seals in now .I was able to get 2 plugs on the drivers side changed and 3 on the passenger side from the top pretty simple now to see about the last 3 and how hard that will be on friday..Anyone have a crank hub for sale ????Tommy
