Formulafire's '00 572cid ZL1

Didn't wanna intrude on your f/s thread anymore so I'll ask here...

For those who don't know, backstory here: https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=219400

Is it possible that you can post pics? How did you actually acquire the car?

firetird Sep 29, 2004 08:52 PM

i saw a vid of the john moss "toy" and it ran, with open exhaust and some et streets, high 9's at 141. one hell of a machine.

Aren't concepts destroyed or something? I also saw he said his friends motor blew on the dyno. Well, then I would say something was wrong with his friend's motor. A dyno is basically like having your car drive in place, so I guess his car can't move. Well, if this car can't move, it isn't a real ZL1. Don't camaro's come stock being able to run? Bulls can't shit big enough for this one.

Concepts are taken to GM's "Area 51" and never seen anymore. There is actually a place funded by GM that acquires, maintains, and houses these concepts and other rare cars. I saw a show on it on SPEEDVISION. It had the Monopoly guy on it with the rediculous mustache.

Cool, I didn't know that. Maybe this guy owns the Roswell alien ship also.

Nasty_T/A_GT Sep 29, 2004 09:59 PM

I saw that episode. It would be cool if he had it but im sure he doesnt.

Ebay Knockoff?? LOL Kidding.. sorry man but unless you can post proof.. your not going to get a very positive response on here anymore.

They have those 3 concept cars where i forgot who, but he tried to put a jet enjine in them. It was found to be unpractical. One was control with a Joystick, but this was back in like the 60's or something. They also showed the corvette 427 concept, it was supercharged with like 770hp, kinda cool.

S8ER95Z Sep 30, 2004 10:33 AM

Yeah we are talking the 2000 Concept..not the 60s :)

Shawn MacAnanny Sep 30, 2004 10:45 AM

No the corvette 427 concept is like a 2007 model or something. Its pretty awsome. Really loud too.

This reminds me of when Ronnie Duke first started posting here. :eek2:

If you really do have it, that's gotta be a real attention grabber!

Shawn MacAnanny Sep 30, 2004 02:45 PM

Who is Ronnie Duke? Tell me the story. I like to learn forum tales. Just like Enisguy taught me of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I went and bought it lol.

all i know is he owned a destroked c5-r formula convertable with an ati f-1 supercharger...it ran mid 8's if can remember correctly...from what i hear he didn't even drive it and it cost him like $250k...stupid if you ask me...harlan is getting there and i doubt he has spent half or even a 1/4 of that price...

:sucks: This is a waste of time why is it even being discussed.

I think that it's interesting. Someone who might actually own the one and only Camaro ZL1. That's a pretty nice car IMO.

Snow Dog Sep 30, 2004 08:44 PM

actually there are more than one. back in 69 there was the ZL1 option i think its either 69 cars that were built or 3 cant remember. the option cost more than the car itself. you got a 427 aluminum engine. it was the baddest camaro ever built. hince the reason the GMMG cars that had 427s were called ZL1s.

Vendetta Sep 30, 2004 10:06 PM

Ronnie Duke has a ATI F-1 powered 388ci C5-R in a 3700 lb full interior 'vert running 8.52@164mph. Pretty nice, but IMO the LS1 can do much better. Matt Harlan is running 8.9Xs in his 346ci turbo LS1. Pretty damn impressive if you ask me. His car is absolutely sick. If he stroked the motor, he could break the LS1 record. That record is screming to be broken, IMO.

Birdie2000 Sep 30, 2004 10:12 PM

What I meant by that comment was that when Ronnie first started posting on here, everyone including many moderators ripped him apart cause he claimed to have the baddest shit around and no one believed him. Shortly there after, he shows up with a Trans-Am that sets the record for the fastest LS1-based 4th gen around. In short, he did have the baddest shit around.

BTW, Harlan has run a 8.527 at around 163mph, only .006 behind Duke with the 8.521.

Did he really? Wow, that's news to me. I last heard from him that he broke into 8.9s. That's pretty crazy, he's progressing fast.
