Kook's LT1 feedback? Hey Guys, Kook's is interested in hearing from LT1 owners that have purchased our headers in the recent weeks. There should be approximately 20 sets sold and hopefully installed at this time and we're interested in hearing how they're performing. We're expecting amazing things from these headers as they are by far the best ever available for the LT1 performance crowd. Thanks Nick "Kook's Headers" |
I to would like to know before i go plunk down that much green. what were your gains? |
how about some pics of them on a motor? plug access based on the pics i have seen doesn't look user friendly from the top of the car. specifically #5,6,7, and 8 locations. i drive my car on the street alot and swap between plugs for nitrous and motor application. if it takes more than 40 minutes to swap plugs then i will stick with hooker lt's or i am considering the hedman 1 7/8 headers. i know kooks is known for great quality, and you get what you pay for, but at this point i am only looking at plug access as a selling point, as i am sure they are an awesome header. thanks taner |
Taner, Plug access practically idiot proof. Simple hand tools, some mechanical experience and 30 minutes should do the trick. I'll bet once you've done a plug swap once or twice you'll do it in less time. Nova, Our headers were designed to make HP, period. Compare our design to other brands (particularly port design and primary tube routing), and you'll see what I'm talking about. This may sound like a bold statement but our LT1 headers will more than prove themselves on the dyno, the street and the drag strip. I'll post whatever dyno infomation I get next week. How long do you plan on producing these headers? until demand dies down? Im seriously interested in a set, but looking more towards next summer. |
Mean Green, We won't be giving up on these headers any time soon. Fact is, we're convinced many LT1 owners that are are using other brands of headers will switch to Kook's when the word gets out that you just can't buy better. It happened with LS1 enthusiasts where more than 50% of our sales comes from those previously running other brands. Yes you'll pay more for our header systems but knowing that you'll get years of trouble free use justifies the additional cost. Nick "Kook's Headers" |
$800plus is alot to put on a set of headers. when i see proof i will buy a set. right now i have a set of 1 3/4 hookers. and i am happy. |
i have no doubt there will be performance gains over my jethots, however im considering switching just for plug access..........but spending an extra $550 (difference between selling my used jethots and buying some kooks) just to reach my plugs is a lot. with jethots/hookers, i have to jack the car up and take out the starter to reach the #6 and #8 plugs. that is a serious PITA. someon posted pics of installed kooks on cz28.com and it really doesnt look like id be able to change plugs from the top. http://www.akgaming.com/images/Camar..._headers/4.jpg i also cannot fit my hand in at the right angle to change the #2 plug. maybe all you guys just have really small hands/forearms, but it takes me almost 45mins of playing around just to twist that plug out. looking at the pics, the primary tube on the kooks is in the same spot as on the jethots, so im guessing ill have the same prob. i wish someone around here already had a set, and i could go try changing their plugs. |
got hp, All plugs are attainable from the top with Kook's headers. The reason why they charge less for other brands is simple, quality of materials, workmanship, and most importantly, design. The quality of materials and workmanship with Kook's products has always been top shelf. Add to that the fact that we spent a full week designing and plotting primary tube routing for optimal plug access and ease of installation, you can understand why it costs more. For most, our headers will be the last set they'll ever have to buy. Nick "Kook's Headers" |
has Kooks ever considered offering a header for us LT1 guys that dont have AC anymore? something that will drop the #2(?, cant remember off hand) primary down instead of up and over like EVERY other header design on the passenger side! now that would really free up plug access i'm with "got hp?" in that pic, it doesnt look much different then my Hookers as far as plug access. #6 and #8 are a huge PITA and they dont look much better in that pic what tools do you use to change the plugs out in 30min? require a stubby plug socket and a ratcheting wrench? |
what kind of trade-in policy's do you have?? LOL |
i look forward to dyno numbers before and after. Also will the test be done on a built lt1? i hope so, more of an apples to apples comparison for me! :) i have all winter to decide on headers. thanks taner |
