Well nonetheless, their both darn close cars, so arguably when built to extremes such as those cars, the LS1 is not FAR superior to the LT1...

This is true. However, it seems that with every LT1 monster, the driver/owner always gives up on the LT1 and converts to an SBC.

because the lt1 fits better in my sonoma than an ls1 does and alot of standard sbc parts fit it so its pretty easy to find parts for.

Because its just as good as an ls1 and the car looks better. Once the mods start piling on heads, cam, ect. The LT1 can run with lsX and vice versa. The only differince is it will do it for less money. I remember hearing ppl say that is a ricer mentality, cheaper equals better. This just doesnt make sense. First off it takes alot of money for most ricers to run fast without blowing up their car every weekend, and secondly cheaper is better. The F body has been an affordable performance machine ever since it came out, if spending more money is fun then you should have boughten an enzo ferrarhi. There is always going to be someone who is faster but I know with my LT1 I can always build it and spray it to keep up and still have some cash to buy gas.

The LT-1 is already considered "vintage". When I rebuild mine a about 8 years ago the shop said it hadn't done one of them for years.
When I took it to the dyno the first time they asked me what I thought it would make and I told them maybe 325 or better. They all laughed. Thru shorty headers it made 366. They weren't laughing then.
The motor looks like a stock LT1 and is probably 475 at the crank at this point (about 400 rwhp). It's an underdog and nobody expects and LT1 car to be fast. Even heavy *** GTO's are shocked when they get annihilated. The look on their face is priceless.
