I'd likely have Hogan fab up a manifold if I went that route.

It makes me happy to see that guys like Joe O. and Taner are going all out and running right there with some of the fastest ls1s. If we're lucky, the first f-body in the 7s could be an lt1. I know the ls1 is the closest but an lt1 isn't far behind.

Are you talking about the LT5 that Tim Allen put in an Impala?

No someone made an aluminum Ltx for their Impala. Here let me get the pics.

It's a modified Donovan 400 block. It's 434 cubic inches.

ok that explains it. its actually a donovan. still cool, but it hought you meant some guy actually paid to have a block cast and machined that was an al version of our motors.

man what type of power did that thing produce.

I guess I should have been more clear about that sorry. I'm not sure how much power he's got but he's running a big blower from what I remember. He's run many low 10 sec passes with it, and believe it or not he's using a 4l60-e and stock PCM (well the tune is not stock of course)

I had a 96 ta and then a fairly modded 97ta ws6.Both six speeds.I then traded up for my 99 ls1 taws6 six speed.I love the 99 front end, side air extractors, taillights. The brakes are much superior to the lt1 .Its also slightly lighter with the aluminum motor. The engine is smoother and stock ls1s are faster than stock lt1s almost all the time. The ls1 has no optipuke and doesn't get the stupid intake manifold leak.Mine does have the cold ticking that ls1s ar know for.Other than that no problems. The ls1 does not seem to quite have the low end snap bone stock of the lt1 cars.
I recently bought another lt1.And lt1 96 z28 vert.I agree the lt1 engine sounds a bit better than the lt1.I have replaced a water pump at 60,000 miles and likely will need an opti or opti replacement type system shortly. My 96 so far doesn't seem to have the intake manifold leak that my 97 had several times.
Other than that both are great cars and lots of fun.I don't really like the way they messed with the clutches on the ls1 although it doesn't make the annoying rattling noise when stopped at a light that my lt1 cars did. Also think the trannies are crappier at least some years in the ls1.

Anyway plan on keeping both of my fourth gens and selling off my second gen ta.But my next car won't be a f body it will be a vette.Likley keep the fourth gens though.
