4.10's MPGs

So, I love my MPG's on my bird right now. Somewhere around 30 is generally what I get. But, I was wondering if I were to go to 4.10's what could i expect for mpg's...anyone? What could i expect to get on other rear end gear ratios, thanks guys!

With 4.11 gears in a Moser12 bolt w/ mods on my old setup cc306,LE heads, 30lb inj,etc... I average 16-22mpg behind a 6 speed.

With my cam only A4 car, I get about 17-18mpg on the hwy with my 4.10's.

My LS1 M6 came with 4.10's when I bought it. I kept track of my mileage the first few weeks after I bought the car. I have since moved and I have no idea what happened to the papers. I will try to locate them tonight so I can give you a more accurate answer. As best as my memory serves me 22 was the highest I ever saw. That was entirely interstate driving in 6th doing apporx. 70-75. I usually get somewhere in the neighborhood of 13-16 mpg. However, if you are willing to spend a little more on your gas bill it is well worth it to run the 4.10's (In my opinion.)

You don't feel a big difference from stock gears until you get to 4.10's or lower. There are issues that you should consider about the 4.10's though. If you have any questions you can IM me on AIM and I would be glad to answer them as best as I can.

i got approx 9-12 mpg with my 4.10s in my cam only 94....of course, the car was never daily driven and the every time it left the garage, me and my buddies were raggin the shit out of it, burnouts, racing-street and track, it never cruised on the highway, so i dont know how good it would have done

With the .50 OD of an M6 4.10s are fine, with an A4 they are a bit much.

I lost about 1.5 mpg when i got my 4.10's in my 95 M6 TA. I could still get over 300 out of a tank of gas on the highway. The major effect I saw was on city driving. I could get as low as 12mpg. It was worth it though. The best mod I did for the car IMHO.

yea bump to that. I had 3.42 gears then put in 4.10s on my car with a M6. Highway mpg no difference really, but around town its def a little worse. Still well worth it tho :jest:

wow...that seems to be a huge difference in mileage there from everyone for general driving. Still, I'm liking the idea :) . Thanks for the info guys....Did anyone loose a lot of top speed?

Well, you will definitely sacrifice some top end if you go with the 4.10's. Then again, the way I looked at is I can have a have blast driving around town and 0-60...how many times will my car actually see 120+? Whatever you dig. Do you know wanyone with 4.10's so you could try them out?

96blackz28 Jan 31, 2005 08:28 PM

Yea seriously, you hardly will ever reach speeds over 100.

Race Car Driver Jan 31, 2005 08:32 PM

I might get 15 around town with my 4.11.

mother of god, bickelfirebird..the specs in your signature are amazing and that car looks badass. I can't get your page to show me any details about your car tho. How come it looks like an LT1 if it's an '02? Anyways, back to my topic :) . No, I don't know anyone with 4.10's...yet :) . You guys do raise a good point about never getting above 100.
