Default 500hp

How much money would it cost to get 450 to 500hp out of an LT1 6M.
Im just looking for some kind of estimate before I start putting together a parts list. I have about $25,000 to spend and wasnt sure if I could do it with that amount of money. My car is a '97 WS6 M6 with 30,000 miles and is bone stock except for a full exhaust.

And would it be possible to still be emissons legal with that power output?
If this is a stupid question than just ignore it, please dont hang me.

Thanks

If you have 25 thousand dollars to spend and you can't get 500 hp out of any car, you need to be shot in the head-- repeatedly

Get a fully forged 383 or a 396 with some LT4 AFR 210 cc cylinder heads with a +.600 lift cam and all supporting valvetrain then supercharge it and spray it with a 200 shot and put out about 700 to the ground on the juice.

then have like 10 thousand dollars left to buy tires.

If your talking flywheel 450hp then it would be possible to make those numbers or a little more with a LE package. I would say LE2 cam & LE2 heads should make right at 400 rwhp and 380' to 400's rwtq. If you do the calculations by 15% drivetrain loss you should be in the 475 flywheel range. Now, if your trying to make 450 to 500 rwhp then yes foget bout it ! It takes a ton of money to put a LT1 in the 450 rwhp or higher in stock cubic inch form. Even if you go big cubes 383/396/401/402/408/421 LT1 it's gonna be pretty radical and you might see the 500 rwhp numbers, but it is definitely not gonna pass emissions and probably won't be very street friendly. Not to mention the coin you will drop on a big cube project. Hope that helps............. Now go build a Nasty stroker for all of us LT1 guys to Oooogle over.

383/396 forged with afr 225 heads and a good matched cam. Add spray after in upwards of a 250 shot and you could get 650rwhp. My car thru a stall dynoed 400 and has plenty left on the n/a side, need to do some stuff still. I should dyno about 420-30 thru the auto your 6 spd will dyno higher. By the way I spray a tiny shot of 75 that equaled 468 rwhp and will put me on the door of 10's, ran a 7.1 spinning with no prep or tires in the 1/8th.

Talk to Advanced induction or Lloyd Elliot about Trickflows and what they recommend for a stroker shortblock and I bet they can do over 400rwhp emmisions passable. I don't say legal because many parts used will not techniocally have CARB approval.

500hp if you're talking flywheel is simple out of an LT1..... I made 422RWHP (which equals really close to 500 at the flywheel with an M6) with a stock crank 355...... simple off the shelf parts... i don't think the cam would smog check and i wasn't running cats....

SRP Pistons (.030 overbore) flattops with 11.75:1 CR with 58cc combusion chambers...
Eagle 6" h-beams
stock crank
Stage II LT1 heads from pretty much any reputable source
ported manifold
58mm throttle body
236/242 cam .556/.576 lift 112lsa
adj fpr
electric water pump
1.6 roller rockers

Done.... get it tuned. Get in, turn key, push gas... guaranteed over 400RWHP if built right....

do a low compression 383 forged je/equivalent turbo pistons, nice fuel system, custom turbo cam, some afr heads or another brand that will flow a crap load. and do a single t-76 or t-88, Good drivetrain will run you another 4k around for everything but for about 20k you could have an awesome streetable fast *** turbo car. Or you could do what I did for way cheaper and build a 383 for nitrous and spray the **** out of it with a street twin clutch and a 9 inch to back it up that works too

Build it, blow it, spray it. Beef everything else up in the vehicle and there you go.

Theres places on the internet that have 396 long blocks with trick flow heads throwing out 520hp and 520torque thats, insane horsepower with torque for 7,000.00. so if you have AFR's, even nastier numbers, probably 550hp 550Torque.

its basicly LS7 #'s for 5 grand cheaper
