my Buddy's freak Lt1

yeah my buddy has a 96 Lt1 formula, that with only bolt-ons ran a 12.9 with little weight reductions, just headers 12bolt, good custom Intake, and tuned him self, Is this shit normal, I haven't seen any run like this , with the 150shoot he ran one 11.7 and a 11.9, O and a 2400 Tc, I think thats about all he has done to it, he swears no cam or head work done, hes on BFG Dr cutting some 1.8 and 1.7's With a airbag and v6 springs

HBHRacing Aug 22, 2005 10:27 PM

with a 1.7 60 foot thats right where I would be running and I don't even have headers and am running full weight. It's not hard at all for a bolt on LT1 to hit 12's.

Frans96SS Aug 22, 2005 10:32 PM

i have headers, th400, 9 inch, and a 200 shot and have been 11.17 at 120.....when i had headers, gears and a 150 shot in a 6 speed car i went 11.8 at 117...so in an auto thats easy

simple Aug 22, 2005 10:35 PM

thats what i'm saying
with normal bolt ons, 12 bolt 4.10's, and some weight reduction with a fucked up opti on a stock tune and factory stock rubber suspension, i ran 13.1 @ 106 on a 1.81 60', 16" Et streets with an M6

had all been working well and hooked it better, 12's would have been in the bag. i tore the car down before i had a chance too try it all with a good opti, some suspension mods and tuning tho

its definately not that hard too do!

Freaklt1 Aug 22, 2005 10:57 PM

Doesn't sound that fast to me. What does the car trap?

Black_95_Z28 Aug 22, 2005 11:05 PM

sounds like a freak to me

Sounds normal, full bolt on Lt1s should hit mid 12s easy, plenty have ran mid 11s with some dope, nothing amazing. Couple have even hit 10s bolt ons and gas. I bet Frans car with an electric water pump, rockers, some other basic bolt ons would hit 10s the way it sits

97LT1 Aug 23, 2005 12:55 AM

Yeah i think a lot of the bolt on LT1's would get faster times, if they start off with a 12 bolt. That is what gives you the capability to run slicks and launch like hell. Unfortunatley a lot of guys go ahead and stuff a cam in or do some headwork before that happens. Then the rear goes and they get a better one. I fall into that category of getting a cam 1st. I really wish i had a 12 bolt or 9 inch to treat the track how i want to.

So with that in mind i think the slicks are what is making you think that it is a freak.

I got most of the bolt-ons when I ran a 12.61 @ 109. I now have all the bolt-ons and a PCM tune and I bet I go 12.30 / 12.40's :)

2MuchNos93LT1 Aug 23, 2005 04:53 AM

my car is a solid 11 second car on a 150 shot clutch slipped on both runs compare my 1st 1/8 mile to your best.

Im runnin mid 11's on the stock rearend, haven't had any problems yet. Sounds like the car is a bit of a freak though, thats pretty fast for the small list of mods. Sounds like hes hookin up pretty good, wish I could hook up, thats my biggest problem. How is everybody else out there gettin the power to the ground???

LWillmann Aug 23, 2005 09:07 AM

Boy, my car's a dog then... :(

Are you talking to me ? If so, I'm all stock internals and my 60ft was never better than a 1.8's. My 1/8th mile was 87 mph before my last batch of bolt-on mods. I now have all the bolt-ons you can do to a 6 spd LT1 car and the PCM is tuned. I also ran those numbers ( 12.61 @ 109 ) on a slammed suspension with 3" of drop :). If you were not talking to me then nevermind:devil: If I had a 150 shot on top of my current setup I'm sure the car would be low 11's :eek2:

What are yall calling full bolt on?? My car must be a dawg then if it's supposed to be running mid 12's at full weight with just bolt ons. There's not much left for me to bolt on. I havent tried out the 9" with 4.11 yet, maybe that'll pick me up some.

ks my ss Aug 23, 2005 01:36 PM

mid 12s here with nothing taken off the car but the front swaybar

havent heard much about stripping the sway. Is it worth doing it?

Also I think A4' cars will have an easier time as the Stock rear gets less wear with 10 bolt.

it helps the front end come up higher and easier to transfer weight better.

Your 8.54 translates to about a 13.2, your 60' was probably a shitty high 1.9 60'. If you launch like these other guys you will run 12's easily with the mods you have!

I figured I was running about a 13.1-13.2. That 8.54 was with a slipping clutch on a 1.9 60 ft with 3:73 gears. Soon as I got the spec clutch in I broke an axle so we'll see what it does with the 9" and 4.11 when the weather cools off but I don't see myself dropping a half a second to get to where everybody says I should be. Are rockers considered bolt on? I thought they weren't. Only bolt ons left for me that I can think of is an electric water pump, coil and underdrive pulleys and of coure I gotta work on the tune. Seems like the stock internal record for an M6 is 12.48, no rockers.

simple Aug 23, 2005 05:51 PM

get some stickies and atleast some poly bushings for the rear susp., with that 9" dump the clutch at about 5500 and row them gears!!
